Holiday Gift of Giving
During this holiday season the staff and students of Gayman Elementary plan to share the spirit of warmth and love with families from our local area. By sharing this project with the community we will be able to provide gifts for many of the children. You can help by taking a tag from the giving tree in the lobby. Simply purchase a gift, wrap it, attach the tag to the gift, and place it under the tree by Tuesday, December 16th. In lieu of donating food and household items, we are again asking each homeroom to collect money to be used towards the purchase of grocery store gift cards.
This year we are also supporting the Bucks County Homeless Children's Initiative. If you choose to take a heart tag, simply purchase a gift certificate to K-Mart, Target or a local grocery store and return the certificate to school with the tag attached.
During this season of celebration and generosity, it is such a valuable lesson for our children to learn the importance of helping others who are less fortunate. For complete details please click here.
Winter Clubs Registration
Gayman Home & School is pleased to offer the Winter Club program to grades 1 - 6. Registration will take place on Thursday, December 11th from 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM. You must bring the registration form in-person to enroll your child in a club. For complete details and the registration form click here.

Kindergarten Needs Your Help
Howdy Gayman families! Our busy Kindergarten students will be crafting some special holiday gifts next week. We are in need of 50 clean, empty and dry baby food jars by Tuesday, December 9th. If you are able to donate any, they would be greatly appreciated. Please drop them off in the main office, and we will take care of it from there. A big thank you in advance!
December Boomerang Award
This year, Gayman will continue to accept nominations for the Boomerang Award, which is our way of honoring students who best demonstrate their own developmental assets. What are Developmental Assets? Students possessing a combination of “40 Assets” are typically most successful in school and in life. These assets have the power to influence choices young people make and help them become caring, responsible adults. For a complete listing of the 40 Developmental Assets visit: www. Search-institute.org.
December: #34 Cultural Competence. Young person has knowledge of and comfort with people of different cultural/racial/ethnic backgrounds. They accept and appreciate differences in people; they establish friendships with those from different backgrounds.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day Of Service
The 40 Assets Committee and CB Cares present The Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on Monday, January 19th. Students are invited to volunteer their time to provide services for the Bucks County Housing Group, Philadelphia Reads, Quilts for Kids, The Synergy Project and Aid For Friends (5th & 6th graders).
In preparation for The Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service CB Cares/40 Assets will be collecting the following items outside the office starting Monday, January 5th:
- Books in good condition (no ripped pages with covers in tact) for pre-K to high school level for Philadlephia Reads
- Tarps and tents in good condition, gift cards for fast food restaurants for The Synergy Project
For complete details on how to register click here.
Winter Clubs In Need Of Volunteers
We are in need of parent volunteers for a few purposes; we need Daily Leaders to make sure everything runs smoothly each day during clubs as well as parents to assist the evening of sign-ups (December 11th from 5:45-8:30). The Daily Leader will be expected to be at school from 3:15-4:30 PM every week on their chosen day for the duration of the session.
We are trying something new this year and splitting the clubs into 2 sessions. The first session will run the weeks of January 5 - February 9. The second session will run the weeks of March 2 - April 6.
Please consider signing up to be a Daily Leader during clubs by clicking here.
Thank you!

Outdoor/Indoor Recess
The decision to go out or remain indoors for recess is made by Mr. Testani based on weather conditions. The goal is to allow the children to play outside whenever the weather conditions permit. The wind-chill factor is the primary factor. The children remain outside for the full recess period provided the wind-chill is above 15 degrees. A wind-chill of between 10 and 15 degrees will result in an abbreviated outdoor recess. The children will have indoor recess in the event of rain, snow, or wind chills below 10 degrees.
Extra!! Extra!! December Reading Olympics Training Event
On Wednesday, December 10th from 3:30-4:30, Reading Olympics will be hosting an after-school “training event” open to any 5th or 6th grade student who is interested in working as a team to create an advertisement for one of the books on the Reading Olympics book list. This is NOT an event that is required to participate in the Reading Olympics Competition.

Spotlight on Art!
On Wednesday evening, Gayman students were recognized by State Representative Marguerite Quinn for their outstanding work and effort in art. Student work will be on display in her office for the month of December. We are so proud of the work that our students create and are so fortunate to have a local representative who values and recognizes the importance of the arts and education.
