Mrs. Volentine's class discussed 9/11 and they created their own definition of a HERO. They are spot on!

Dear Jackson Families,

It has been another awesome week at Jackson Elementary. Students are enjoying learning and having fun while doing so. I am so proud of our teachers and staff. They are working so very hard to make learning exciting and engaging. The pictures at the bottom of this newsletter are just a small example of the fun students are having at school. Shhhh....don't tell them they are also learning at the same time!

Looking forward to another fun filled week,

Jill Cliburn, Principal

Stock the Lounge Project

The first few weeks of school are some of the busiest days of the year for our teachers. They typically have only a few minutes to grab a quick snack or bite for lunch as they prepare for the next fun part of the students' day.

We would love to be able to stock our teacher's lounge with extra snacks and drinks as we kick off this exciting year. You can drop these items off in the office any time.

Thank you so much for considering contributing to this project!

Outdoor Classroom Work Day Sunday, October 3, 1:00 - 3:00 PM

The Jane Dmytryk Outdoor Classroom is an amazing learning space at Jackson. It is recognized as a National Monarch Butterfly Way Station. Classes are able to use the outdoor classroom for science lessons, writing assignments, and other activities. There are also specific lessons that have been created by our local Girl Scout Troop for the outdoor classroom.

The Outdoor Classroom is in need of some pruning , weeding, and sprucing up. We are having a Work Day on Sunday, October 3, from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM. We will be focusing on the following tasks:

-Moving the pathway stones back into their spots

-Cutting down some bamboo to clear the maze path (volunteers will need to provide pruners)

-Weed-whacking (a volunteer will need to provide the gas or battery-powered weed-whacker/trimmer)

-Weeding the pollinator gardens

-Cutting out trumpet vine throughout the ODC

-Removing weed tree saplings throughout the ODC

Please plan on joining us to make this space amazing and inviting once again.
