Call for Family Promise Volunteers

UUFC Call for Family Promise Volunteers 2016

UUFC participates in an interchurch effort to help the most needy in Pickens County by serving as a Family Promise Support Congregation. We are actively seeking volunteers for this social justice project! Family Promise provides shelter and case management assistance for up to 14 homeless children and their parents, and relies entirely on local churches for evening/overnight accomodations. UUFC has partnered with Ft. Hill Presbyterian Church in Clemson; all services are provided at Ft. Hill Presbyterian which hosts the homeless families for one week at a time, 3-4 times per year.

UUFC Volunteers help in the following ways:

• Cook: Prepare part of a nutritious meal for 8 - 14 children/adults (at your home) to be delivered to Ft. Hill Presbyterian Church at 5:30 on a UUFC service night. Reimbursement for out of pocket food expenses is available through UUFC's Outreach budget.

• Greeter/Suppertime Host: 5:30 – 7:00 PM

• Evening Activity Volunteer: Help with homework and evening social time 7:00-9:00pm

• Overnight Volunteer 9:00 PM – 6:00 AM

UUFC's next service rotation will be Monday, Ap. 4th and Tuesday, Ap. 5th, 2016.

We understand that volunteers can only commit once specific dates are set, so we welcome volunters who may wish to get involved this April or later in the year. All volunteers will receive training/orientation, and work as part of a team. Join us in this inter-faith effort to bring stability and self-sufficiency to homeless families in Pickens County.
