READING
This week in reading classes, students will identify evidence from the story The Friendship in order to help support their thinking in their constructed response.
LANGUAGE ARTS
Students will write a constructed response explaining why John Wallace shot Tom Bee. Students will also close read an article about Martin Luther King Jr.
MATH
Course 2 students will continue working with Algebraic Expressions. Our four-day school week will focus on Properties of Operations, The Distributive Property and Simplifying Expressions.
Accelerated 7 students will be finishing up their chapter on Percents with lessons on financial literacy. Percent of Change, Discount/Markup, and Simple/Compound Interest will be the main focus. Our CSA (test) will be on Wednesday 1/22.
SOCIAL STUDIES
In Social Studies, we will be continuing our notes for Chapter 7 (The Revolutionary War). We will learn about the end of the war, and read about George Washington’s leadership.
SCIENCE
After finishing our discussion of photosynthesis and cellular respiration, we will be moving on to the much anticipated microscope unit! Next week students will begin their exploration of the microscope by learning about its history and the various parts that make up this vital scientific tool.
