Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a wonderful break, it was so good to see all of the smiling faces on Tuesday. We are now in our second semester of school, 1/2 of the year is in the past. We will be working on becoming more self motivated and independent to help prepare us for 2nd grade.

Report Cards

Today, you are able to view your child's report card for the second nine weeks and the first semester. If you have any questions about the report card please contact me. Thank you!

A new routine in our day

We are starting a day off with some exploration time. I am encouraging the children to use this time to create or build something. Soon the students will have a challenge that they will be working on. We have talked about how this time is used to wake up our brains prior to our day. Enjoy the pictures below. Ask your child what they created this week.

Cardinals Fit Club

Are you interested in fitness and exercise? Do you love to be active? If so, this club is for you! Students will be exercising for approximately 30 minutes each meeting, so athletic clothes and tennis shoes are ideal!

Who: All TCE students (K-4) are invited to join the Cardinals Fit Club!

When: We will meet each Wednesday morning at 8:00 and will begin on January 27th. If there happens to be a 2 hour delay, the club would be canceled that morning.

Please return the permission slip that was emailed earlier in the week to school before Wednesday, January 13thth! If you have any questions at all, please contact Mrs. Gibson at

iPads and Android Tablets

This semester, with your permission, your child is welcome to bring their iPad/tablet to school. We will be using them to create, learn and research throughout the day. We are hoping this opportunity will help to prepare your child as we look forward to August 2016 when all H.S.E. K-4 classrooms will be 1:1. If your child will be bringing a device to school, the permission slip that came home before winter break must be signed and returned. Please let me know if you have any questions!

It would be very helpful if your child had the following apps downloaded on their device.

A+ spelling

Quick math jr

Subitize tree
