Clark Weekly News
Week ending 1/13/23
Gratitude and Celebration!
Thanks to the family of Ashleigh Vaughn for sponsoring the staff breakfast this week.
Shouting a HUGE way to go to our students who were nominated for the pillar of Respect and announced at the assembly this week: Evan Atwell, Jackson Banyas, Rylee Dooley, Gretchen Howe, Zachary Miller, and Taylor Thornhill. We actually had a tie and were able to celebrate Gretchen, but our other winner was unable to attend, so stay tuned for that announcement!
Shout out to all of the employees and students on campus today when we had a lockout. Everyone responded as is expected. We are also grateful to our IRSC Public Safety Officers as well as the Martin County Sheriff's Office for their communication and keeping us safe.
Gratitude to our morning shuttle driver who found a student's phone and made a trip back just so she wouldn't miss it this weekend!
Announcements and Updates
Semester 1 grades are in FOCUS, however, we have found a couple of issues with credits. We will let you know as soon as the report cards are posted as finalized and we will mail home those who have requested paper copies at that time.
Last chance to support HOSA and buy some yummy treats that are not available locally. Bring some cash on Monday and enjoy while supporting a great cause!
There is still time to sign up for the spring break trip to New York and DC! email wjudd@irsc.edu for the link.

Clark is thrilled to resume its once annual field trip to the Florida Renaissance Faire on the designated Student Day of February 6th. This has been a very popular event in the school calendar and has been missed these last two years. $10 gets you a day at the Faire. Other expenses are optional. We will leave from Clark at 8AM and will return to Clark by 4:30pm. Many students like to costume, as do the staff chaperones so, if you have a costume go ahead and gear up. Dress codes and school regulations still apply. Permission slips are available. We plan to bring 50 kids and 5 adult chaperones. See Mr. Judd for details and slips.
Applications for new students for next school year are now open on our website. Help us spread the word. Deadline to apply is 2/28/23. We will hold Info Sessions on Feb. 1 and 2 at 6:00 pm.
Paper Tutoring is a GREAT FREE resource for any subject, including test prep and essay help... see the attached flyer with more info.

Handbook Highlight- Dress Code
No hats of any kind on inside the building. This is also a matter of proper etiquette.
Shirts need to cover the stomach. These are starting to creep up way to high and expose bras.
Skirts and shorts need to be long enough that no undergarments show.
We allow A LOT of wiggle room and freedom to express yourselves in a manner similar to colleges, however, the state of Florida requires K-12 school to enforce a dress code, so PLEASE do not push it.

Make a Difference Mondays! We want to thank the following students who helped make 80 sandwiches for the homeless on Friday: Anthony Prezioso, Colin Sweeney, Langley Elg and Isabella Elg.
Take Care Tuesdays! A great way to take care of yourself is through being organized. It is a new semester, so now is a great time to start using a planner or finding a system to keep all of your classes and responsibilities organized. The worst thing you can do is “wing it!”
Way to Go Wednesdays! Way to go Drew Howard for giving up his seat to others in Ms. B’s class last week.
Thankful Thursdays! We are thankful for all of our students who consistently show respect to others. An example of which is Gretchen Howe who won the Character Count award for Respect yesterday. We cannot wait to award the other winner at next month’s assembly.
Fun Fact Fridays! Martin Luther King Jr. was such a gifted student that entered college at the age of 15. He skipped grades 9 and 12 before enrolling in 1944 at Morehouse College. Monday we celebrate Dr. King and his accomplishments. Enjoy your three-day weekend!

Mindset Matters!
For those who followed along last year, these are updated for a new year. Enjoy these short videos that illustrate the point. There are also parent newsletter related to this mindset attached.

Lesson 4.2 Overcome Limiting Beliefs
Young Paralympian Makes History While Uplifting Athletes With Disabilities
https://safeshare.tv/x/1ETkUlF83G4#
Go a little deeper:
1. What limiting beliefs did Ezra’s parents have to overcome?
2. Ezra had to overcome limiting beliefs. How did that influence his future?
3. Why is it hard to believe that we can overcome obstacles?
I truly believe in this work and it is needed more than ever in the lives of our teens... but honestly, it is GREAT info for us all! I welcome your feedback. Call me 772-419-5751 or email me ljudd@irsc.edu
