Assistant Principal's Message
Ask a question.
This is something that I have repeatedly found helpful, especially when working in an environment with 450 students and 40 staff members. When students, staff, or parents share their perspective with me on a particular topic, I have learned it is often wise to ask a question both of the person I am talking to and any other parties involved. It is amazing how my perspective may change. Lets just say that I believe in the saying, "There are two sides to every story".
While living abroad, I frequently found myself trying to make sense of the culture surrounding me. Doing so with the lens I grew up with proved to be a challenge. Some things just didn't make sense from my perspective. When I was able to pose a question to a person from the culture where I was living and gain their perspective, things oftentimes made sense. I just needed to ask a question (and listen to the answer).
When (not if) you hear things from your student about school that you wonder about, give us a call and ask a question. Seek to understand the adult's perspective in the situation. Teenagers will give you their perspective (often without asking!); give us a chance to provide ours. We may have made a mistake. There could be a misunderstanding. Your student's perspective, while valued and important, is only one side of things.
The month of May can be a challenging time for students and school personnel. Many of us are tired. Very tired. So if you hear something that causes you to pause, give us a call.
And ask a question.

Should it be necessary for your child to be tested for Covid-19, please be aware that we require a lab verified test result. Due to a high instance of false negative results we cannot accept an antigen, or rapid, test result. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Here is a link for lab verified testing sites in our area www.testdirectly.com We appreciate your efforts to ensure a safe school environment for all.
