Note from Principal McCoy

Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite Holiday.

I have always enjoyed it since I was a small child, because it is one of the few times that my entire family would gather from all over the country to come together. Our traditions and activities were without fail some of my absolute favorite memories. I share that with you all, because Thanksgiving is a reminder to me that family, friends, life, love, and community are so important.

I know that everyone does not celebrate Thanksgiving, & I completely respect that.

I do want you all to know that I appreciate you all as our parent & community partners. Last year was such a hard year in more ways than I can explain. However, this year I feel at home with you all as we begin to get to know one another better and begin to build deeper more authentic relationships. A school community is so crucial, because schools are a central hub for neighborhoods.

My goal as the principal at Willard is to continue to build and nurture our school community. I love our school & I want everyone to feel seen, heard, & valued.

I am grateful for you all & your wonderful children as they allow me to do what I love.

So today, know that I am grateful for each & everyone of you, our students, our staff members, and our school community as a whole. Thank you for all that you do to share your love, support, and dedication at Willard.

Our school is not an island, it takes many hands to make the work successful.

I am looking forward to growing and connecting our school community as we get to know one another more. I am also look forward to partnering with each & every one of you as we continue to recreate & reimagine celebration and community at Willard.

For those who celebrate, have a safe & happy Thanksgiving. For those who do not celebrate, have a safe & rest filled rest of your week with those whom you love.

Student Advisory Project Phase II

For the first time in almost 30 years, our district is working towards a comprehensive, equitable plan to help ensure that nearly all students have access to a neighborhood school in proximity to their home, inclusive of programming and services that best meet their individual needs.

Please note that the new Student Assignment Plan, including boundary changes, will not go into effect until the 2025-2026 school year.

Join us in Phase II of our Student Assignment Planning (SAP) effort to learn more and discuss the impact of the plan on our community. In this phase, community feedback is needed to help determine programming options and locations across the District.

All in-person and virtual sessions will have slides in English and Spanish and verbal interpretation.

Visit our SAP Resource Hub for more information.
