Year 4 News
Week beginning December 14th 2015
Merry Christmas to you from all of the Year Four Teachers!
We have started to introduce our new Unit of Inquiry:
Who We Are
CENTRAL IDEA
People’s relationships with each other can have an impact on well being
The children will learn through a variety of learning engagements based on the following inquiry questions:
How do we develop relationships with people?
How do different relationships affect us in different ways?
How do relationships affect our well-being?
This unit of inquiry closely follows the Friends for Life programme. Children will explore how they can build positive relationships with others, and how they could deal effectively with conflict in relationships. Mrs Navin will host a meeting for parents who would like further information about the programme in the new year. More details to follow soon.
Maths
In maths we are continuing with solving one and two step problems involving addition and subtraction strategies. The children are using strategies to investigate and solve mathematical problems involving subtraction. We will soon be moving onto multiplication and division
English
The children will begin to read and write procedures as part of our new unit of inquiry.
General notices
Please remember to sign your child's reading record after hearing them read each night.
Please make sure your child has enough stationary in school. At this time in the year they often need replenishing!! Pencils, sharpeners, glue, a ruler and an eraser are essential. Check the list on the VLE.
Please note that for Hockey children need to have shin pads and a mouth guard (they can be purchased for the PTA for $50.00 each). Rugby requires a mouth guard as well.
