Winter Library Update

Spelling Bee
Our school's spelling bee was held on Jan. 25 in the library with 8 finalist from the written spelling bee. It was a very competitive and exciting contest between our winner and the first runner up. Congratulations to Nate Chatterson (winner) and Ayden Wyant (runner-up). Nate represented our school in the county spelling bee on Feb. 18. Bravo Nate on a job well done!
Mock Caldecott Elections
A fifth grade reading group participated in a Mock Caldecott election to try and pick this year's winner. They analyzed and evaluated 19 picture books and their overwhelming choice was Friendshape by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Tom Lichtenheld.
Upcoming Events
We have two author events planned in March. On the 16th, Fred Bowen will be visiting with 4th and 5th grades talking about the writing process. He has written many sports related books and has a sports column for kids in the Washington Post. On the 21st, 2nd and 3rd grades will be heading to the St. Anne's Belfield Convocation Center for a presentation by Jon Sceiszka (The Stinky Cheese Man) and Steven Weinberg (Rex Finds an Egg! Egg! Egg!).
