Presidents' Note
Springtime energy and enthusiasm are in the air!
Families all over town are beginning to enjoy more outdoor opportunities to meet and play responsibly; your PTA likewise will be offering new and exciting ways to get involved, get engaged and get to know friends and neighbors. Now is the BEST time to let your voice be heard and the opportunities are many.
Get Involved!
There's an opportunity for everyone to get involved.
- Will you jump in to 4th Grade yearbook signing festivities in June?
- Do you want to help with the candy / popcorn options at the drive in movie nights?
- Are you seeking creative ways to bring together LGBTQ families?
- Do you seek to infuse a love of global cultures at an international festival?
- Do you love gardening and outdoor work?
Drop us a note at respta4kids@gmail.com and we will match you with a great program or opportunity!
Get Learning!
Solo Parenting Workshop
Don't miss out on the expertise of Leslie Cohen-Rubury this week March 24th @ 8:00 PM. Whether you parent solo as your partner travels extensively, parent solo due to a life change or any other reason, you are welcome to this small group discussion.
Get Spending!
It's no secret we need to fundraise to make the many activities happen! If you love to decorate for Spring, you'll love the Charleston Fundraiser. Hard copies will be coming home with details in backpacks, but, simply click here to create a profile and start shopping.
Get Local!
How your tax dollars are being spent on town, parks and recreation, capital expenditures, and education are being discussed in detail and scrutinized in the next few weeks. It's your time to observe the process and have your voices heard during public comment or in email communications. Our Board of Education and Administration have submitted a budget with excellent student-teacher ratios, class and instructional focus and additional fine and practical arts focus.

4th Grade Yearbook
Many parents have sent photos so we have been sorting through, tagging, and "filing". We are currently making sure we have photos of each child! Next step is for our yearbook rep to lay out the pages with our photos.
We will need your help with proofreading once the page layouts are completed in late March/early April! Final due date is April 23rd!
*If you would like to help "tag" photos or proofread the book and review pages, please let us know!

Grab-and-Go Meals
Reminder: Grab-and-Go meals are available for pick up to all students this year, regardless of financial need. We urge families to take advantage of the opportunity for healthy meals on the go to support students learning from home. Regular meal pick up at Joel Barlow High School will provide a nutritional boost to hard-working students with little to no preparation needed.
Please feel free to contact David Kennedy at David.Kennedy@compass-usa.com or Deena Robushi at drobushi@er9.org with any questions or concerns.
In case you missed it -- March PTA meeting
Easton, Redding, Region 9 Special Education Committee
The tri-district special education committee works to support students and families who rely on additional support services in kindergarten to 12th grade.
Learn more about the committee's efforts and events at its website here.
Employer Donation Matching
As we approach the end of the year, you may be thinking about charitable donations. The RES PTA is a 501(c)(3) organization, and if our work is valuable to you, you can consider making an angel donation right here, or by mailing it to the RES PTA at 33 Lonetown Rd., Redding, CT 06896.
We'd also like to remind you that your employer might be like Thomson Reuters -- a company that generously matches employee gifts to local nonprofits doing the work communities rely on. If that's the case, please let us know, and we'll help you complete all the paperwork you need to make it happen!
