Week 16 Updates
We are not back into the swing of things and moving in to the second half of the school year. Students have two more weeks in this grading cycle before they take their fall final exams. Final exams are required for all high school credit courses - if a student fails to complete their final, they will receive in "Incomplete" for that class and no grade until they complete their exam.
As always, please make sure you regularly check your child's grades, no matter how much you see them busy online or participating in class. As a reminder, the Texas Education Agency is who guides most of the decisions of the district. All grades will count, all grading cycles will count - therefore, if your child fails a class they will have to retake the whole section or have a high enough average during the Spring semester to average a 70 or above. Students may only make up some sections of classes during the summer. It is imperative that students submit all assignments - missing work can be detrimental to their overall average.
PLEASE MAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT INFORMATION/DATES BELOW:
- 9TH Graders - PSAT 8/9 exam (We highly recommend that all 9th graders take the exam, only available on campus - results are used for placement in classes for next year)
- 11th Graders - PSAT/NMSQT (We highly recommend that all 11th graders take this exam, it prepares them for the SAT exam in the Spring. Students that do not make a passing score on the SAT in the Spring will be required to take a College Prep Math or English course during their 12th grade year - they will not be allowed to take an advanced math or English.)
- 12th Graders - Senior pictures will be taken on Tuesday, January, 12th & Wednesday, January 13th. Students should sign up via the link in their 12th grade Teams page. Please message Mrs. Garcia with any questions.
Regards,
Stacy Garcia - Principal
