Also, Compliance Trainings are due September 30th. Some individuals have only completed parts of the training. It would be a good idea to double check to be sure you have green checks next to all 3 compliance trainings. Thanks!

Coppell Gifted Association Memberships
The Coppell Gifted Association is celebrating their 10th anniversary of supporting gifted students, their parents and educators in CISD!
All CISD educators will receive a free educator membership to CGA by filling out the attached form by October 12. Educators may also register to become professional members of the Texas Association for Gifted and Talented using the same form. Those educators who are both CGA and TAGT professional members will be eligible for CGA scholarships to attend the TAGT symposium this December in Dallas. Details are on the form.
Please encourage your educators to sign up for this free membership so they will be the first to know about CGA's student, parent and educator enrichment opportunities. Memberships must be renewed each year, so even if they have signed up in the past, educators will need to fill out the form again to receive a free membership. After October 12, educator memberships will be $10.
Attached is a PDF of the membership form or educators can reach the membership page here: https://coppellgifted.org/join/

Assessment Updates from Debbie Youngs
ASSESSMENT - Changes to Texas Assessment Process for 2016 - 2017
Please see below for important changes to the Texas Assessment process for the 2016 - 2017 school year received from TEA on September 6, 2016:
- Beginning with the March 2017 STAAR administration, students with disabilities and English language learners who are eligible for testing accommodations may receive those accommodations through an enhanced online version of STAAR. In addition to the embedded accommodations that can be assigned individually, this version will include enhanced accessibility features available to all learners. This change will eliminate the need for STAAR A and STAAR L and allow all learners to take the same online form. Guidance will be provided shortly regarding learners whose IEPs or Section 504 accommodations reflect they are to take STAAR A in Spring 2017. STAAR L guidance will be provided in December 2016.
- STAAR Confidential Student Reports will be redesigned this fall and available with the Spring 2017 STAAR administrations.
- STAAR assessments will be shortened so that 85 percent of students will be able to complete the assessment instrument in two hours in grades 3-5 and within three hours in grades 6 - 8. This will include operational and field test items.
- In August 2017, TEA will release the primary form of all 2017 STAAR assessments.
- TEA is working to redesign the TELPAS listening and speaking assessments for implementation in 2017 - 2018. This year TEA will conduct a pilot study of the new TELPAS listening and speaking assessments during the testing window for 2017 TELPAs reading.
