Medlock Bridge Mustang Message
We educate and inspire all students to be lifelong learners!
From the Principal's Desk
Medlock Bridge Community,
Please reserve the dates for Parent Teacher Night on August 20th (3rd grade through 5th grade) and/or August 22nd (Pre-K through 2nd grade). This meeting will allow you and your child's teacher to establish quality communication for the benefit of your child. You will get a taste of what is in store for your child this year. You'll learn about our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and School Governance Council (SGC). We are excited to see you! More information to come from your child’s teacher.
Thank you for reading our first Mustang Message of the year! I look forward to
communicating with you through this publication every two weeks. It will contain important calendar information and other significant details. In this newsletter, please be sure to complete the required document for the Office of Student Discipline. You will also see the revisions to our lunch visitor policy so we can ensure the safety of our campus. As always, please feel free to reply directly to me with questions.
Your Proud Principal,
Matt Vance
Morning Carpool - How does it work?
We are happy to offer carpool drop-off and enjoy seeing you all in the morning! In the interest of safety and efficiency, here are a few reminders of how our carpool works.
1. Carpool is open from 7:10 a.m. until 7:40 a.m. Parents who arrive before 7:10 a.m. must keep children in their cars until the 7:10 a.m. bell. At 7:40 a.m., carpool must close to allow staff to return to duties with children inside building. You will notice that the "horseshoe" closes and parents are able to drive through to the top parking lot.
2. When dropping off, please pull all the way through the "horseshoe." Doing so will allow more cars to pull into the "horseshoe," maximizing the space we have available to accept drop-offs and avoid dangerous traffic back-ups.
3. For the safety of all children involved, please only drop your child off once your car is on the "horseshoe." This prevents students from walking dangerously close to traffic. There should also be a staff member close by to assist your children as they exit your car.
4. When making a left turn into the school, please wait until there is space to pull your car all the way on to campus. Doing so allows Medlock Bridge neighborhood cars to drive through the carpool line when necessary.
5. School begins at 7:40 a.m. If you arrive after the 7:40 a.m. bell, please walk your child in to the front office to sign in.
6. Students must be inside the building by 7:40 a.m. Students who walk into the building after that time will be counted as tardy. To provide ample time for parents and students to get used to the carpool drop-off routine, students will not be marked tardy until August 26th.
**Tip** We see very few cars come through carpool between 7:15 and 7:25. If you can arrange your morning to arrive during that window, you will save yourself plenty of time sitting in carpool traffic!
Thank you for your assistance!

Volunteer Registration
All parents and relatives who plan to volunteer at school need to complete the Fulton County Approved Volunteer Registration. This is mandatory to visit in the classroom or help with PTO Sponsored activities. The registration process can be found on the FCS District Website under Community/Partners & Volunteers or Click Here. Applicants should be prepared to spend about 10-15 minutes for the training and application process. In accordance with State Law, all volunteers must be current with the Child Abuse Reporting Protocol Training before being allowed to volunteer in our schools. It is very important that volunteers enter their full legal name as it appears on their government issued ID (please do not use nicknames or “goes by” names on the application). All applicants must wait 24 hours after applying for application processing and approval. Be sure to use the exact name as printed on your driver's license when completing the training. **IMPORTANT - When selecting the FUNCTION and ORGANIZATION for volunteering, please make sure to always select PTO in addition to any other selections you make.**
Lunch Visitors
Parents are welcome to come have lunch at school beginning August 26th, 2019. This allows us to establish our routines within the cafeteria during the first two weeks of school.
All visitors must bring a picture ID, sign in and wear a visitor's badge during your visit. At least one visitor must be listed in the student's approved contact list.
At the end of lunch, parents and visitors must exit the cafeteria and return to the front office. Parents and visitors may not return to the classroom with your child.
