Foundations for Life Long Learning 20 June
“At the time he was betrayed
and entered willingly into his Passion,
he took bread and, giving thanks, broke it,
and gave it to his disciples, saying:
take this, all of you, and eat of it,
for this is my body,
which will be given up for you.
In a similar way, when supper was ended
he took the chalice and,
once more giving thanks,
he gave it to his disciples, saying:
take this, all of you, and drink from it,
for this is the chalice of my blood,
the Blood of the new and eternal covenant,
which will be poured out for you and for many
for the forgiveness of sins.
Do this in memory of me.”
Dear Parents and Staff
Congratulations to all of our students who celebrated their
First Eucharist last weekend. During beautiful Masses on both Saturday evening and Sunday morning presided over by
Fr Quynh the children were particularly reverent, reading confidently and taking time to reflect upon the significance of the celebration. We were all very impressed with the children and proud of the way in which they represented themselves, their family and our school. Please continue to keep all of them in your family prayers.
PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS
These will take place on Wednesday 3 July with classes finishing at 12.00pm. Please collect your children promptly at this time so that the Teachers have time for a short break before starting their interviews at 12.30pm. These meetings are particularly important as they expand upon the written Report that you will be able to access online on Friday 28 June. The interviews are for 10 minutes duration which should be sufficient time to discuss your child’s progress however, if you do require more time, please make an appointment to meet with the Teacher on another day. We will again be using Parent Teacher Online (PTO) for booking interview times. There is a link to this programme on the school website and bookings may be made from 4.00pm on Friday 21 June. When you open the booking site you will see “Obtain PIN/Password” on the right hand side. When you click on this you will need to enter the email address that you use for school communications. You will then be sent a password that you can use to access the booking schedule.
SEMESTER REPORTS (PP – Year 6)
These will be available online from 4.00pm on Friday 28 June. Please follow the direction below to access your child’s Report.
BUILDING RENOVATIONS
Whilst it may not be very obvious from the outside, there has been a lot of work done inside the staffroom to remove ceilings and internal walls. A section of the external wall will be removed in the next few days. The renovations don’t appear to have caused a great amount of disruption thus far and, hopefully, this will be the case as we move forward.

YEAR 4 CLASS NEWS
How are we nearly half way through the year already? The Year Four students have settled into the routine of being in Year Four and are loving the challenges it brings. The main event we have been focussing on this term is the children receiving First Holy Communion. On Saturday night and Sunday morning, most of the students celebrated the Sacrament and received Jesus for the first time. They were very reverent and it was a wonderful celebration that they will always remember. We would like to thank Father Quynh for his support and Mr Loiacono, Mrs Notte and the choir for sharing their wonderful talents over the weekend. Thank you for keeping the students in your prayers over the past weeks as they have been preparing to receive this precious Sacrament.
In HASS this term, the students have been researching and learning about the world, especially the continents of Africa and Europe. Students have chosen specific countries in each of these continents to research and have discovered many interesting facts.
Did you know that Victoria is the capital of Seychelles? Nyree
I learnt that Botswana has the most animals in Africa. Callan
Madagascar is famous for their vanilla. Rose
Madagascar has lots of Boab trees. Keely
Art this term has been so much fun because we have had the extraordinarily talented Mrs Flexman in our classes. She has been teaching us to weave and we have used this skill to make a mat that we will use in our Makerspace time next term. We have all come up with different designs and patterns that we are very proud of and we can not wait to show everyone our finished products.
During writing this term we have focused on a few different genres. Our favourite genre by far is persuasive writing. We get to tell our points of view and discuss these ideas. We all wrote a persuasive argument on the statement of, ‘iPads should be banned at schools’. As you may be able to guess, most students disagreed with this statement and suggested that they should not be banned at schools.

PARENT TV
Every child has access to some sort of technology - a phone, computer, tablet or gaming console.
But when your child goes from being able to do their normal activities to not being able to 'survive' without a phone in their hand, how do you combat that addiction?
Dr Arne Rubinstein from The Rites of Passage Institute, goes through the warning signs, why technology is now the new drug and how to work with your children to create boundaries.
However, mentors can play a very important role in the lives of young people too, especially when they reach adolescence.
Read why mentors are important and who can be a mentor to your children:
Oh, the elusive work-life balance… It seemed hard enough to achieve before kids came along and now it seems impossible!
Join child psychiatrist, parenting expert and working mother-of-three, Dr Kaylene Henderson, as she shares her top tips for being your best in each of your important roles.
