A Message from the Principal
As part of a District initiative, CGE students are now wearing student ID badges. Please view the 3 minute MCSD video provided through the link below:
Your child must wear their badge on campus, when riding on the bus, on field trips, and when in Extended Day. We are currently experimenting with using them in the cafeteria and in the library.
If your child misplaces their badge, the school will be replacing it for a small fee. Please work with your child to help them understand that the badges and lanyards are not toys and that they are responsible to wear them each day for school.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sunshine State Young Reader Award (SSYRA) Program
Students are so excited about the 2019-2020 SSYRA program for grades K-2 and 3-5. We have sent home a SSYRA reading log with each student. When your child reads a SSYRA book, they should get their log signed and then come to the media center to get their brag tag(s). We have special SSYRA brag tags for each SSYRA book.

Did you know?
- National School Lunch Week is Oct 14 -18th.
- You can purchase snack bar passes as a way to celebrate your child's birthday. Each pass is $1.00. Let the cafeteria know the day for the birthday celebration and the class count. For payment, you can place the money in your child's lunch account online or by sending in cash or check in an envelop with your child's name on it.
- We are now using Student ID badges in the lunch line on the cuisine side. At this time, we continue to use regular lunch cards on the Premium Side.
Contact Christy Cole, CGE Cafeteria Manager, with any questions.
Social Emotional Learning
This year teachers at CGE are implementing more opportunities for Social Emotional Learning in the classroom. Two specific programs that address these areas are:
- Restorative Practice (Circles)
- Sanford Harmony
Each day, students receive the chance to join a group circle to build classroom culture or to work with a “buddy” to build positive peer relationships among classmates. For more information on Sanford Harmony, visit: https://www.sanfordharmony.org/.
Each week, a student from each class is selected to be our Dazzling Diamondback of the week and have their name announced on the morning announcements! The criteria for being selected is demonstrating the CGE Expectations: Control, Good Choices and Effort! Every student is a Dazzling Diamondback at Citrus Grove!
