A Note from our Principal; Mrs. Shawnie Hays
Greetings SHES Families,
HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday break. It's truly hard to believe that second semester is starting. I want to send a special shout out to our wonderful PTO for a fun Pancakes and PJ's with Santa event. We had a great turnout and loved seeing all our Thunderbolt families that were able to attend. Thank you for supporting our PTO. The money that PTO raises goes right back into the classrooms, supporting our students and teachers.
Thank you to those who were able to donate to our adopted families in December. Mrs. Fleming and I were able to deliver gifts of clothing, toys, monetary donations through gift cards and utility payments to four SHES Families. We couldn't do this without your generous support.
Cold weather will be soon be returning. Please make sure that students are dressed properly so that they can continue to play outside as temperatures allow. Community donations of hats, gloves and winter coats are available. Please contact me if winter items are needed.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. I can be reached at
785-730-5345 or at hayss@usd450.net.
Sincerely,
Shawnie Hays, Principal

Roller Skating in PE
All students in first grade through sixth grade will be roller skating in physical education class during the weeks of January 29th – February 2nd and February 5th- 9th. Our SHES PTO covers the cost of the Skate Time program to provide us with skates and safety gear. Please consider signing up to volunteer during your student's PE time or any other time that you are available to help. We always need help with getting the students skates on/off, tying laces, and keeping them safe! Permission forms will be going home with students this week, please ask your student for it so they can participate.
