NWES Cares!

  • A HUGE thanks to Christie Holst for all of her work to make sure our school families had food and gifts for their children this Christmas. A big thank you to all of her helpers, too!
  • Fourth grade students collected money and used it to buy gifts to support children in need. They did this in place of a gift exchange. Great way to show caring!
  • Our PTO hosted the Penguin Patch and worked to collect donations that allowed every student in the school to visit the Penguin Patch and buy gifts for others in their family. A HUGE thanks to everyone who donated and made sure each child had their "BEST Bucks" they needed.
  • A HUGE thanks to Matt Pulley and others who helped with the Christmas Program! It was wonderful and very well attended!!
  • A HUGE thanks to Christie for another wonderful Dudes and Donuts event! Thanks, also, to everyone who helped with that event!

Energy Saving Efforts!

Below is the information from Jim Rochford regarding extended break procedures.

EXTENDED BREAK SHUT DOWN PROCEDURES FOR ENERGY CONSERVATION!

Unplug electric devices:
• Microwave ovens, coffee pots, other kitchen appliances
• Televisions, DVD and VCR players
• Computer equipment, including printers, speakers, scanners, chargers, etc.
Where possible just make sure power strips are turned off and then you
will not have to pull any plugs. Make sure that computer equipment is shut
down properly before pulling any plugs. DO NOT UNPLUG NETWORK
CABLES, USB CABLES, OR ANY OTHER CABLES that control devices.
• Projectors and monitors should be powered down. Not left in sleep mode. Do
not climb on classroom furniture to unplug them!
• Smart Boards
• Classroom Sound Systems
• Music keyboards
• Radios/CD players
• Office equipment such as copiers, chargers for walkies, printers, etc.
• Leave all network switches, large copy machines, and fax machines plugged in. They
will go to sleep and consume minimal power.

General rule: UNPLUG EVERYTHING POSSIBLE.

Since the statistics on keeping New Year's Resolutions are so dismal, is it a good idea to make them at all? Or do they do more harm than good?
