Astro March Update #4
Dream big. Reach for the stars. Together we achieve success!
Principal's Message
Dear Families,
For students who will be coming to school for in-person (Hybrid) learning, there are some new routines and procedures to learn. For Hybrid students school will start at 7:45 am. Students should arrive between 7:30 and 7:45 in the morning. Students will need to bring their Chromebook and charger and an empty water bottle but no additional supplies. We have enough school supplies here for every student. There is a video linked in the section below titled, What to Expect During Hybrid In-person Instruction for you to watch with your student(s) to help with this transition. We have made many plans but there will still be adjustments as we go. This is a new format for school for everyone. We appreciate your patience during this transition time.
March 31- April 2 will be asynchronous school days for students in grades 3-6. Teachers will post assignments for them to do on these days but there will not be any live instruction. These are days for teachers to prepare for the hybrid transition.
Students in grades 3-6 will maintain their current CDL schedule for the week of March 29th. On April 5th, students in grades 3rd through 6th will change to a new schedule. Your classroom teacher will communicate the details of the schedule prior to the change. If you decide to change from CDL to Hybrid you must notify the office by 3/31 at noon.
We have put into place many safety precautions so that we can be together for instruction. As a part of this, we cannot have parent volunteers and parents cannot come to visit or walk students to their class. I know this may be challenging for some but we need to limit the number of people on campus to ensure the health and safety of all.
If your child is worried or if you are worried about this transition, this slide presentation may be helpful to review. It is also attached to this newsletter as a pdf if that is easier for you to open.
Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns. We are here to help.
In partnership,
Jennifer Robbins

Bussing information for In-person Hybrid Instruction
K-6th grade routing “goes live” through the “mybus” app on the HSD website on Monday, March 15th. We will also be sending “mailers” to all Kinder and 1st grade families as we have in years past. Families should receive those mailers during the first part of spring break. The mailers to kinder families will include the yellow wrist bands for families to write their kinders route number and stop location on. This yellow wristband needs to be attached to the kinders wrist, or on their backpack.
If your student is a bus rider and is riding the bus to and/ or from a location that is not your home you MUST fill out this form. If you did a form last year it expires every year. These can be sent to Transportation as usual. They will be the last requests routed, after the exception/mind changer category is routed. If your request is denied, you will receive a letter from Transportation stating that. If your request can be accommodated, Transportation will call the you with the information they need.
Please complete the form included in this link. You can fax directly to transportation, or bring to the school.
