Mr. Goetz's Corner
It is hard to believe it is already going to be October! Time sure is flying by already! Halloween will be here before we know it. There is a lot coming up this month, so be sure to mark your calendars. Picture Day was this week, and you are still able to purchase a picture package if you have not done so already. To order, simply go to mylifetouch.com and enter our school code: EVTB67B2R. There is a retake day on November 10th, if your student did not get their picture, or you would like a retake.
Next Thursday, October 6th, we will be hosting our Deerfield Family Dance. This event will be from 5:30-7pm. The dance will be held outside, and we are looking forward to a night of dancing, crafts, a photo booth, raffles, and more!
We wanted to extend another thank you to all of those who donated or volunteered for our Fun Run last week. Our Deerfield community raised $10,645.56!!! Thank you for helping make this fundraiser such a success! I am excited to enjoy a fun breakfast with all of our friends who raised $75 or more. They will be receiving an invitation soon. Our top five fundraising students got to pick from some amazing prizes donated by local businesses. You can see what each of them picked below!
Our World's Finest Chocolate fundraiser is winding down, with 2 weeks left. There are still 50 boxes left to sell! You have until October 14th to get your boxes sold and money turned in. Everyone is doing such a great job getting out there and raising money for our school. We are so proud of our Deerfield community.

Fun Run Success
Thank you to all of our wonderful Deerfield families and friends for your generosity at our annual Fun Run! Our Deerfield community raised $10,645.56!!! The funds will be used to help staff members enhance curriculum and purchase needed materials for their classrooms. The funds also help sponsor in-school assemblies such as Science Alive, Cranbrook visitors, author visits, and so much more! Thank you again for all of your efforts to help this fundraiser be so successful!
Students who raised $75 or more will receive their invitation for breakfast with Mr. Goetz from their classroom teacher. Our top fundraising class was Ms. Burt’s. They will be having a popsicle party! Our top five fundraising students were: Anthony Alayan, Joey Alayan, Adelie Allen, Juliana Misuraca, and John Misuraca. They were able to choose from prizes that were donated to us from local businesses. Thank you to Urban Air, Pump it Up, GTC Gymnastics, MJR Movie Theater, and Classic Lanes.
Deerfield Family Dance
The Deerfield Family Dance will be held outside on Thursday, October 6th from 5:30-7:00. We are looking forward to an evening of music, dancing, crafts, a photo booth, raffle baskets, and refreshments! Please note that all children must be accompanied by an adult. We are in need of cider donations and volunteers to help make the event a success. Please visit our Sign Up Genius below if you are able to help. Your time and donations are greatly appreciated!
Worlds Finest Chocolate Fundraiser Update!
We only have 2 weeks left in our chocolate bar fundraiser! There are 50 boxes of chocolate left to sell. If you would like more, please fill out the extra chocolate form below, and send it to school with your student. Thank you to everyone who has sold boxes and turned in money. Please remember that all money needs to be turned in by Friday, October 14th. Students who have checked out at least one box of chocolate received their lanyard in class this week. All other prizes will be awarded when the fundraiser is over. Thank you for your help in supporting Deerfield!
We are excited to partner with the Avondale High School Athletic Director, Mr. Kenny O'Shaughnessy, to sell the World's Finest chocolate bars at Avondale High School sporting events.
You will need to provide your own table and chairs, plus your own cash box for change. It might be a good idea to have your student make a sign to hang on the table, too. When you arrive at the event, let the people working the door know that you are with Deerfield PTO to sell chocolate, so you don't have to pay the entrance fee.
If you would like to check out extra boxes of chocolate for your event, please email Bridget Neam at deerfield.pto.3600@gmail.com at least one day before your event. The chocolate can be sent home with your student, or you can pick it up in the office.

Library Volunteers Needed
Mrs. Kowalski is excited to welcome volunteers to the Deerfield library this school year! The students always get excited to see their parent/guardian or their friend's parent/guardian helping out.
Prior to volunteering, you must complete the Avondale School District volunteer form. It needs to be returned with a copy of your driver's license to Victoria Sheldon or Grace Caton in the main office.
To volunteer, please visit the Signup Genius at: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0E4BAAA728A7FF2-library. You may sign up for any spots that fit your schedule, and are not limited to only your student's class.
Thank you for sharing your time and energy with our Deerfield Falcons in the library!
