Travel Information

We realize that many of you will be traveling over the Easter holiday. We have been extremely fortunate that to date, we have only had to quarantine three classrooms and that was early in the year. It is important to also note, that there has been no spread within St. Damian School. We are lucky, but, we are lucky because you have all been cognizant and vigilant in helping us to remain open throughout this pandemic. We appreciate all you do.

At this time we will be following these guidelines:

If you are planning to go to an orange state, please communicate this to us by calling Mrs. Ruzevich by Wednesday, March 31, 2021.

If you will have your child tested as opposed to the 10 day quarantine, we ask that you do the following on Monday, April 12, 2021:

1) Arrive at 7:45 a.m.

2).Your child/ren should enter through the main doors.

3). Please give your child/ren a hard copy of the negative COVID test results. Each child must have his or her own negative test result.

4). We will check them in, collect the paperwork, and send the child/ren to class.

Students Return April 12, 2021

Guest Speaker - The Invisible Girl Project

Thursday, the students had the opportunity to interact with guest speaker, Jill. Ulrich McElya. Mrs. McElya motivated and engaged our students to hear God's call. She told her personal story of how she listened to God's call and now works to save girls in India who are discriminated just for being a girl. Mrs. McElya and her husband founded The Invisible Girl Project. As a thank you to Mrs McElya, we will be holding an out of uniform day. On Wednesday, March 31, 2021, for $1.00 the students may dress down and all proceeds with benefit The Invisible Girl Project. This is an optional dress down day.

Positive Pieces: Social-Emotional Learning and Student Wellbeing: Why SEL Matters

International #SEL Day

Today, celebrates International #SEL Day. As part of our mission, our children work on improving their Social/Emotional skills daily. We work to build skills to improve all students well being.

The website below includes a multitude of ideas compiled for our families by The Archdiocese of Chicago to celebrate the day.

Totus Tuus at St. Damian

The Totus Tuus program aims to inspire young people to long for holiness, develop a deep desire for conversion and personally renew their faith with a stronger prayer life. Through evangelization and catechesis, Totus Tuus seeks to foster openness to the sacrifices and blessings of the various Christian vocations.

For those already familiar with Totus Tuus, we must share that student volunteers are not permitted this summer as the Archdiocese permits only adult volunteers that have successfully completed background checks/compliance requirements.

That being said - YOU are needed to help us during camps this year at St. Damian! Please contact Mrs. Plesha right away at 708-687-7778 to volunteer.
