End-of-Year Schedule for 9th, 10th, & 11th Grade Students
Please read the end-of-year schedule carefully.
All students will have an ELEARNING DAY on Wednesday, May 26.
Thursday, May 27, and Friday, May 28, are HALF DAYS for students.
End-of-Year Schedule for Seniors
We will have a mandatory graduation practice on May 21st at 11:30 a.m. (after seniors' last final exam) in the main gym. All seniors planning to walk at graduation must report to the gym at this time. For social distancing purposes, boys sit on east side and girls on west side. This will be the last time we will meet with seniors before our graduation rehearsal on May 26th at 7:30 a.m. at the VBC.
***Any senior with a device or textbook checked out from HG (Chromebook, MiFi, etc.) will turn them in at this time. Be sure to bring your Chromebook charger and MiFi charger as well.
***Seniors may also clear their school debts on this day if they have not already.
***We will take a senior group photo.

Please read the Chromebook/MiFi return information carefully to see when you will turn in your devices.
On your Chromebook/MiFi return date, make sure you have the following:
- Chromebook and charger
- MiFi, charger, and box

Summer Baseball Camp
Competition Cheer Parent Meeting
Are you interested in Competition Cheer at HGHS? Join us on Thursday for a Competition Cheer Informative Pre-Tryout Parent Meeting. Students in grades 7-12 are invited to join Competition Cheer. (Yes, 7th and 8th graders are included!) For more information, contact Stacy Junjulas or Christy Baeder. Please enter through the back of the school to get to the cafeteria.

The Concert Choir Spring Concerts are Thursday, May 13, at 5:30 and 7:15 at First Baptist Hazel Green.

Student Council Officer Elections
Elections for Student Council officers for the 2021-2022 school year will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2021. Voting will be done electronically by Google Form. To vote, students must be signed into their MCSS Google accounts and signed out of all personal Google accounts. The ballot will open at 8:30 a.m. and close at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 13. Election results will be announced on Monday, May 17, during morning announcements.

NEW: Cap & Gown Pick-Up
Cap and gowns can be picked up by remote students on May 12th in the cafeteria from 1 to 2 p.m. and in front of the school from 4 to 5 p.m. Enter through door 44 to the left of the back courtyard if you are coming to the cafeteria.
***Seniors in school (traditional students) will pick up their cap and gown during their lunch time in the cafeteria on May 12th.
Early Grad Form for Rising Seniors: If you are a rising senior and want to be an early grad in December of your senior year, fill out THIS FORM.
Competition Cheer: Competition Cheer Tryouts for grades 7-12 are May 17-19 from 3:30-5:00 in the Auxiliary Gym. Participants will enter through the back entrance of the main high school building and walk straight ahead into the main building lobby. The Auxiliary Gym is located to the left across from the vending machines.
***Middle school 7th and 8th graders are welcome!
Volleyball: Volleyball tryouts have been moved to May 17-20 (4:00-5:30) in the main gym. Enter through door #44 in the courtyard. Athletes must have a current physical in hand to try out.
Cross Country: Hazel Green Cross Country tryouts will now be held on Tuesday, May 18th and Wednesday, May 19th at the Hazel Green track from 3:30 to 5:00. Athletes only have to attend one of the two days. A current physical is needed. Please see or email Coach Harris with any issues.
HGHS Graduation: Our Hazel Green High School Graduation will be held on May 26, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the VBC Arena. Mandatory Graduation Rehearsal will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. at the VBC the morning of graduation. Each graduate will receive eight tickets for family and friends. Masks will be required for all graduates and guests.

Enrollment for NEW Students: PowerSchool Enrollment is now open for NEW students who will attend Madison County Schools for the school year 2021-2022. MCSS will offer two options for student instruction next school year: in-person instruction at your home school or enrollment in the Madison County Virtual Academy (grades 4-12). Attached is a newsletter containing information you will need to enroll your child in PowerSchool.
*RETURNING students will begin enrollment in June 2021.

PRICE: $75 (Price includes camp and t-shirt.)
After registration, you may pay the first day of camp by cash or check payable to HGHS.

*HGHS will serve lunch (and a breakfast for the next day) from 11:00-Noon each day to our remote students. There is no cost for these meals. Meals can be picked up in the car rider line at the back of the school.

Permanent Announcements
Online Application for Free/Reduced Meals: Online free and reduced meal applications are available at the link below for a faster, more confidential way to apply. A new application must be completed each school year to qualify for free or reduced meals. Your child's eligibility status carries over to the new school year for the first 30 school days, allowing parents time to re-apply. Only one application per household should be submitted, and everyone living in the house must be included on the application.

Subscriptions are $9.99 a month (can be renewed monthly) or $69.99 a year (renewed annually).
Great for family or friends who cannot attend events or those who live a distance away.
HGHS Check-Out Procedures:
- Students drop check-out notes in the basket on the attendance clerk’s desk before 8:30 in the morning.
- Notes will be verified by the attendance clerk prior to the time of check-out.
- Check-out notes need the following information:
- Student’s first and last name (printed)
- Time of check-out
- Reason for check-out
- Parent’s signature
- Parent’s contact information
Without a parent note, no student will be allowed to check out unless a parent/guardian comes to the Attendance Office to check out the student. Parent notes must be turned in to the Attendance Office before 8:30 a.m. No phone checkouts will be allowed. The only exception will be if the school nurse determines that a student is sick and needs to go home. The school nurse will then contact the parent/guardian and the Attendance Office.
*Please go to door #44 at the back of the school (near the Trojan statue and courtyard) for all check outs. No check outs are done through the front office.
