Lowell Lantern
Week of April 8--April 12, 2019
WE ARE LOWELL
Our theme at Lowell this year is "We are Lowell...CORE is our Superpower!"--Civility, Order, Respect, Excellence. We are encouraging students to embrace this challenge and achieve them.
LATE ARRIVAL--WEDNESDAY, APRIL 10--SCHOOL BEGINS AT 9:30 AM
A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Lowell Families,
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a nice spring break! We have had a fantastic first week back from break! Our students came back in learning mode and have done an outstanding job this week! We have missed all of those smiling faces! It is hard to believe that we have just 40 days of school left in the year. This is a very busy quarter, and students still have much to learn to prepare for the next school year. Attendance at school is always important and will continue to be so as we finish our fourth quarter. It is critical for students to be at school every day and to commit to putting forth their best effort over the last couple months of school. Thank you for your continued support with this!
We have several upcoming events that I’d like to remind you of:
Kindergarten Round-Up is Monday, April 8 from 5:30pm - 7:00pm.
STEAM Night at WCHS/WCC is Tuesday, April 9 from 6:00pm - 7:30pm.
LATE START DAY is Wednesday, April 10. Buses will pick up one hour later than their regularly scheduled time. Students are to arrive at school at 9:30am and will be marked tardy if they arrive after 9:40pm.
Honor Roll Breakfasts are scheduled for Thursday, April 11 for Grades 2 & 3 and Friday, April 12 for Grade 4.
ILEARN Assessment for students in Grades 3 & 4 will begin the week of April 22, 2019. The ILEARN window is open through Friday, May 17, 2019. It is important for students to be at school and on time every day during testing. Please avoid scheduling appointments during the school while testing is taking place.
Enjoy your weekend! See everyone on Monday!

Good attendance = Good Academic Success
Below are March attendance percentages for each grade level. Remember, our attendance goal is 97%. We are heading into our last quarter of school for the 2018-2019 school year. Attendance at school is critical for student academic success! Missed days of instruction can create gaps in student learning. Please help to ensure that your child has access to critical instruction and learning by making sure he/she is at school every day!!
