GOODNOE GAZETTE
Halloween Edition 2022
This is an enjoyable time for our children, teachers, parents and friends. However, if you wish that your child not participate in any of these activities, please advise your child’s homeroom teacher. Your child will either be excused, or given a special school activity/assignment.
AM KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS
Mrs. McCusker will send home separate information regarding the KAM parade and festivities. However, AM Kindergarten students' parade will begin at 11:15a.m. If the forecast calls for rain a decision to reschedule the parade will be made around 10:00a.m.
Costumes
Costumes should be brought to school, not worn. Children should come to school with their costume in a bag labeled with their name. Costumes should be ready to wear, and the children will change into them before the parade begins. Ample time and assistance will be given for students to change into their costumes prior to the parade at 2:15p.m. We recognize the selection of costumes is part of the Halloween fun. As you help your child to put their costumes together, we ask for your assistance with the following considerations:
- Safety is our number one priority. Costumes must be safe with masks that offer good respiration, are not violent and/or gory and do not obstruct vision.
- Costumes that represent themes of violence and/or have toy weapons (even as part of an overall costume), or resemble that of a weapon are inappropriate for this parade.
- The Council Rock School District has a weapons policy that covers weapons of all kinds. If your child’s costume involves a weapon, do not bring it to school. Also, any other costume items like hockey sticks and baseball bats, should not be brought to school because of the potential for injury both on the bus and in the classroom. Please, refrain from costumes depicting horror or violence. Your support is greatly appreciated! Some forethought and discussion with your child will help to make our Halloween celebration safe and fun for all students.
CLASSROOM PARTIES
The majority of classroom parties will take place after our Parade. Homeroom teachers will communicate individually with families regarding their classroom party plans. Only HR parents and pre-arranged volunteers will be permitted into the building during this time. Distinctive pre-made badges will indicate who will be permitted in the building.
Classroom Party Drop-off
Classroom parties will be held immediately following the Halloween parade on October 31st.
If you would like to drop off games, craft items, or food before the party, please feel free to leave items in the office prior to the parade start time of 2:15p.m. All items should be labeled with the grade and the teacher's name. The office staff will bring the items to the labeled classroom.
Classroom Party Attendance
Each grade level has determined the number of parent volunteers necessary to assist with costumes and classroom parties. Classroom volunteers will be determined prior to parade day. The front office will be given a list of volunteers prior to Halloween and will check these lists as parents sign in that day.
Please note that only the parents whose names are provided to the office by the homeroom teacher will be permitted in the school. This is for the safety of your child and all the students of the school. For those that are on the list to be admitted into the school, please have your driver's license ready so that we can scan it. All other parents are welcome to view the parade. We apologize that everyone cannot have access to the building on this day.
At the end of the day, existing sign-out procedures will remain unchanged. Parents are asked to sign their children out of the office and front lobby. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and assistance to help our children enjoy these exciting Halloween festivities. We are looking forward to a fun celebration!
Parade Route
Students will parade through the building beginning at 2:15p.m. and will exit through the doors located at the bus loading area. They will then parade up to the sidewalk located in the front of the building. Students will continue on the sidewalk down to the F wing and enter the building through the front doors of the F wing. Included below is a parade map with route information as well as where parents can stand to view the parade.
Kindergarten AM students will receive a separate communication from their teacher regarding their parade plans. However, please note that parents should park then walk around to the side of the building (facing Andrew Drive) to view the parade on the blacktop area.

SPECTATOR PARKING
- If you are parking in the parking lot, please ensure your vehicle is in a marked parking spot and not parked along the curbs of the parade route.
There will be traffic cones placed along the parade route. This allows for our parade to move without interruptions. Please do not move these cones or pull students out of the parade line for pictures.
INCLEMENT WEATHER PLAN
The outdoor parade will be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. We will make this decision by 10:00a.m. on Monday for the Kindergarten AM morning parade and the decision for the afternoon parade will be made by 1:00p.m. This information would be communicated through email and on the school website. If the outdoor parade is canceled, we will continue with our classroom party plans.
