A Peek at our Week...

~This week we read a narrative poem entitled I Like Where I Am. Ask your child what made the main character, a little boy, say "I like where I am." Also, ask how the little boy felt at the end of the story. With this story we learned about adverbs and discussed theme. Up next...Helen Keller.

~In math we took our end of the module test covering shapes, fractions and time. Starting Monday...multiplication!

~In writing we have finished our restaurant writing. These will be displayed proudly in the hallway. To finish the year, we will begin working on a Second Grade memory book .

~In science we continued working on our wild weather news reports. Parents will be invited in towards the end of the month to see these weather reports first hand!

A look ahead...

~May 13th & 18th: Spring MAP testing

~May 13th: Author visit - Carolyn Crimi

~May 25th: No school

~May 27th: 2nd grade field trip to the Brookfield Zoo. Chaperones will be needed. Keep an eye out for information in your child's red folder.

Notes from the LMC...

~All books are due back to the LMC by Friday, May 22nd.

~If your child ordered a book to have signed for our upcoming author's visit, can you please let me know? It seems some order forms did not have names written on them and Mrs. Carlson would like to make sure everyone who ordered a book gets their book. Thank you.

I hope you are all enjoying your caterpillars at home! In school we are journaling the life of our classroom caterpillars. A second sheet of information regarding your caterpillar's transformation came home in your child's red folder this afternoon.

Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.
