Congdon Park Weekly News
February 17, 2021
Hello Families
What a great week it was last week having all grades back in the building. The kids are getting back into the groove of being in school and so are we. Morning drop off and afternoon pick up were quite a challenge. We are very hopeful when we come back after break with some warmer weather, that students will go back to walking or riding the bus to school. For morning drop off - as soon as you stop in the drop off lane, your child must exit the car immediately. This is not the time to be eating breakfast, zipping coats or putting on mittens. Please do that at home. Last week each day over 200 kids were dropped off in the morning - we must keep the line moving.
A couple of reminders:
Masks are required for all students.
Bagged meal service will pause during the Winter Break Feb 15-19. Service will resume on Monday, February 22nd.
Kindergarten Roundup
Please share with your friends and neighbors about Roundup. First time families may not know what to do.

FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE
Daily symptom screening:
Remember to screen your children daily for any symptoms before coming to school and keep them home if there are any symptoms found per the MDH Decision Tree.Reporting test results and quarantines:
Please continue to report to your child’s school any COVID-19 symptoms, test results or quarantine status for your child. We track this information for attendance and follow the Decision Tree guidelines for when children may return to school. For students experiencing COVID-19 like symptoms:
Your student will be required to stay home from school for 10 days following the start of COVID-19 like symptoms unless documentation is given to your child's health office showing a negative COVID-19 test and/or a note from a health care provider stating that the student with symptoms has another illness that is not COVID-19 (e.g. an ear infection, a sinus infection, etc).
For siblings and household member of student experiencing COVID-19 like symptoms:
Siblings and household members who attend or work at school will also have to stay home until negative COVID-19 test result or an alternative diagnosis is received. A longer quarantine for siblings and household members may be required if documentation of a negative COVID-19 test or alternative diagnosis is not received by your school health office.
IMPORTANT Pick Up and Drop Off Reminders
We have nearly twice as many families dropping off and picking up their children than in a normal year, so it is vital everyone follows these rules:
- Students should not arrive to school until 7:30am
- ADULTS - IF YOU ARE IN THE DROP OFF/PICK UP LINE DO NOT GET OUT OF YOUR CAR!!!!
- Do not park in the Fire Lane. This is illegal and it really deters the flow of drop off and pick up. If you need to leave your vehicle, you must park in the parking lot.
- If you are waiting in your car to pick up your child, continue to PULL FORWARD AS SOON AS THE CAR AHEAD OF YOU MOVES FORWARD.
- Please put away your cell phone so you are not distracted and hold up the line.
- When Dropping off in the morning..."stop, drop, and go" quickly to open up the spot for another car to drop off. Your child must get out on the sidewalk side of the car. Also remember to PULL ALL THE WAY FORWARD.
Grief Support for kids 9-12.
Box Tops for Education
We need pictures for the yearbook!
Dear Congdon parents & teachers,
Please submit pictures of your children/students to add to the yearbook. Examples include 1st day in person/at home, home classroom set ups, learning pods, PE at home, art classes at home (the messier the better!!!), music classes at home, recess pictures (even if that's recess at home!). Does NOT have to be fancy! Everyday, messy, "real life" is great! Please include your child's grade/teacher. We would love to have more of the all distance learner pictures too: your child is part of Congdon even when learning from afar.
We are also looking for 5th graders and their activities this year, as this will be their last Congdon yearbook and we would love to highlight them as best as we can! We are hoping to have a "then and now" page dedicated to the 5th graders, so if you have an old photo of your child (baby/toddler/kindergarten) please send that to us (and with your child's name and current 5th grade teacher). We are hoping it will be a fun match the pictures up guessing game.
Please send photos to: congdonyearbook@gmail.com and in the subject line- include grade and teacher for easy tagging. Pics should be in JPEG form.
In body of message, please include any other tags/names/descriptions, (if it’s not obvious).
Picture (retake) day is Feb 23rd. Please bring packet back if it's a retake.
If you would like to do pictures from home, lifetouch has the option to snap at home picture and upload through the shutterfly app. If you would like your child's photo included in their class page, please send this photo to us and we will enter them so they aren't a blank no-show name only entry. Please see below for flyer on taking and submitting your own picture for the yearbook.
Thank you! We are hoping to put together a memorable yearbook for a memorable year, and your photos will make this yearbook more memorable. .
