Conversation Starters

As a way to foster conversations with your child about what we are learning, please ask him/her the following:

Tell your family about your favorite Workstation in class.

Magical Mathematicians

Please read the following problem with your child and help him solve the problem.

Shawn has 9 toy dinosaurs. He gives 4 to his friend Aiden. How many does he have left? Who has more toy dinosaurs?

(If your child is ready, perhaps challenge him with higher numbers, perhaps numbers 15-20.)

Your child can earn a special reward by drawing a picture to illustrate the math problem above. Please return the math work on Monday.

Reading in Action

Read a story to your child. Ask your child... summarize the story.

Learning About Water

Mrs. Umberger taught us the importance of helping to keep fresh water clean (like the Saluda River where we will release our trout on Monday). We should not litter. Litter and other materials wash into our lakes and rivers. This is not safe for the fish and other creatures living in our lakes and rivers.

Family Activities

Jaleigha had St. Patty's Day fun with her family!
Please share family activities with us. We will try to provide time for your child to share about their special activities in class and also post some of the pictures in our newsletter. This is a great way for us to share with one another and build our classroom community/family.
