Horizon Elementary Site Council Ready for 21-22
I would like to thank each of our Horizon Site Council members for volunteering their time and energy this year to assist building administration in the implementation and achievement of our school improvement goals. Members who will serve this year are Amy Lederer, Anne Peressin, Alicia Hurley, Morgan Kuchynka, Jenna Lindberg, and Chris Earp. School personnel serving on Site Council are Mr. Crutchfield, Ms. Hill, and Mrs. Mitchell. This group will meet four times throughout the school year. Our first meeting is Tuesday, December 7th. We will also meet January 11th, February 15th, March 8th, and April 12th.
What is a Site Council?
The School Site Council (SSC) is intended to be a decision-making body that represents all stakeholders of the school community. The school principal, teachers, other school personnel, and parents make up this group. Their primary responsibility is to identify common goals and assist the leadership team in establishing a plan to achieve the goals. The key to a successful SSC depends upon a good working relationship among all members of the Council. Each member of the Council shares their unique perspective and knowledge of the school’s needs, as they affect all students, during SSC meetings. The principal and teachers contribute background knowledge in instructional practices; parents provide the insights on how effective the school is working and how well their children understand their assignments.
I'm looking forward to working with this outstanding group of volunteers!

Thank A Teacher!
Our teachers and staff have spent almost 2 years educating our children under the most challenging of circumstances in their careers. Our amazing educators have worked extra hard, spent extra time and resources, and adapted extraordinarily well to educate our children. We are forever grateful.
This November, the Horizon PTA invites businesses and families to help us say “THANK YOU” by sponsoring a teacher grant of $100. In previous years, teachers used their grants to purchase technology upgrades and classroom materials.
Your donation of $100 or more is tax deductible. In return, we will send you a detailed letter of which teacher received your donation and how the funds were used. Additionally, your generosity will be recognized in the Horizon weekly newsletter and on social media.
You can send your electronic donation to our venmo account (@hetigerspta). In the description, write “Teacher Grant.” You can also drop off a check in the front office. Donation receipt provided upon request.
For additional information, contact us at hetigerspta@gmail.com. The deadline to sponsor a teacher grant is November 30. We are so grateful for the support of our amazing Horizon Elementary families!
Sincerely,
Amanda Nedved
