The Nat King Cole Story

Nat King Cole was a famous African American Jazz musician born on March 17, 1919 in Montgomery, Alabama. He was an American Musician and started off as a Jazz pianist. He is most famous for his voice. He had a soft smooth voice that he used in many hits he made.

His fame speared all around the world he was in Big Band, a group of jazz musicians and other jazz genres. In 1956 Cole became the first African American performer to host a television show. It was known as "The Nat King Cole Show" It premiered on NBC on Tuesdays at 7:30. it ran shortly due because the show failed to get a sponsor due to segregation at the time. He was a still popular through out the years and wrote many single hits that are still known today such as "Mona Lisa", "Straighten up and Fly Right", and the one everybody should know is "The Christmas Song" and much more hits

In 1964 Cole found out he had Lung Cancer. He failed to help him self a few months later. On February 15, 1965 The known artist died from his battle with Lung Cancer. The last song record by Nate King Cole was "L-O-V-E" It is proved and still a popular hit today use in many films soundtracks

Why is Nate King Cole important

Nate King Cole was an African American Jazz musician that change the 50's and 60's a lot because he was African American. He Became the first Television host of his own Show "The Nate King Cole". He somewhat change the image of us African Americans and we should appreciate that.
