The Goshen Gazette
From the Principal - Mr. Graves
December, 2019
Greetings Goshen Families,
As we begin the Second Trimester, we will continue to focus on student achievement. To achieve at their best, it is very important that your child attends school every day. Frequent absences and tardiness create gaps in their learning and make it difficult for them to catch up to their peers. Thank you for making sure that your child(ren) are on time and in attendance at school every day. We enjoy seeing them and working with them.
Here Comes the Bus
Gahanna Jefferson Public Schools are excited to announce the roll-out of a new mobile device app Here Comes the Bus. This app will allow families to view the real-time location of their child's school bus on a smartphone, tablet or computer using GPS technologies with which each school bus is equipped. Here Comes the Bus enables families to:
See the location of the child's bus both before and after school
Confirm that the child's bus has arrived at the bus stop, at school or both
Receive a push notification (text) or email message when the bus is near their stop, has been substituted, or when we have important information to relay
You are now able to download the app and access its features. Here is a flyer that explains how to sign up. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the transportation department at (614) 751-7581.
Lost and Found
Kudos to the students who put their names in their clothing. We were able to return those items. Please encourage your child to check the Lost & Found for their missing items. We have lots of hats and gloves located by the cafeteria. Unclaimed items will be donated during Winter Break.
Looking to Volunteer
We love having adults volunteer their time to work with our students here at Goshen Lane. If you have time and are interested in volunteering, please send us an email to let us know. We are currently looking for someone to run a Chess Club. Several Goshen Lane students have demonstrated an aptitude, a desire, and a willingness the learn and play the game. If you are interested, please let us know.
Pattern Book Café!
Our Kindergarten students have been writing their own pattern books. They are excited to share pieces with you during the Pattern Book Café, Friday, December 20th, from 9-9:45 AM in the school Cafeteria. Come check it out!
Success Tips for the Month
- There are lots of sugary sweets around during this time of year. Encourage your youngster to try a yummy healthy one like banana “ice cream.” Cut bananas into small pieces and freeze them. Then, mix them in a blender until smooth and top with sprinkles.
- Hay muchos dulces en esta época del año. Anime a su hijo a probar uno rico y saludable como el “helado” de banana. Corte bananas en trozos pequeños y congélelos. Después, licúelos hasta que se forme una crema y póngale granas por encima.
- Good keyboarding skills make typing easier, freeing up your child to focus on ideas and information. Make practice fun with an online game or app. Your youngster’s teacher may have recommendations, or you can search for “free typing games for kids” online.
