Message from the Principal
Hello Families,
Our first full week is complete. The beginning of the year is running smoothly. Thank you to our staff and families for being so patient with our front office staff! We currently have all of our secretaries on staff and 3 of them are learning everything they can about Cheyenne and how to serve you. Mrs. Robinson is still greeting you all in the front as well as our new staff.
My family had a rough start to the first full week of the school year. I have been out with COVID for the past week. I look forward to getting back to work next week. I hope you and your family are well!
Our newsletter is full of upcoming information and reminders. Please read through the information. We have many things coming up and new implementations.
Sincerely,
Michelle Grinsteiner
Principal

Cheyenne had a group of students who successfully participated in this program last year. The Oklahoma Math Tutoring Corps registration is now open for Oklahoma students in grades 7, 8 and 9. This high-dosage tutoring program provides 50-minute virtual tutoring sessions three times a week in groups of no more than four students. Please share this flyer with or forward this email to your students’ families so they can register their student for this program.
The OSDE launched a successful pilot program for Math Tutoring Corps in spring 2022, with nearly 400 participants. A post-pilot survey revealed:
- 90% of participants increased their understanding of mathematics.
- 84% of families said participating students were more confident about math.
- 84% of students indicated they would be more likely to persevere after making a mistake.
Students are eligible to participate in one or both of the OSDE’s Math Tutoring Corps sessions during the 2022-23 school year. Each session can accommodate up to 1,500 students. The first runs Sept. 18 through Nov. 19, the second in spring 2023. Families and students can enroll for the upcoming session through this link by Sept. 1. The OSDE will provide any needed technology or internet access, and tutoring schedules will occur during students’ free time outside of the school day.
Additional information is available on the OSDE’s Math Tutoring Corps webpage.
The Oklahoma Math Tutoring Corps was featured on News 9 in Oklahoma City and Fox 23 in Tulsa.

Technology Protection Plan
Dear EPS Parents,
All 6th-12th students will be issued a district Chromebook to use at home and school. This Chromebook has a rugged case to prevent accidental damage, however we strongly recommend that families purchase the $25/year Student Technology Protection Plan (STPP). Parents/Guardians will be financially responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged Chromebooks, chargers and cases. You may pay for the STPP online via our InTouch payment system. If you have difficulties using the payment portal, these directions should be able to help.
Each student is also required to watch the Annual Student Review, ASR. Your secondary student can access this video by logging into their Infinite Campus student portal account, opening their Inbox and selecting the Annual Student Review message. Once the message is open, please click on the URL to start the video. The Annual Student Review Instructions will help you navigate this process. If your student does not remember their password, they can have it reset during Schedule Pickup Day.
Thank you for your time,
EPS Technology Department

DROPPING OFF ITEMS
We ask that you check with your student before they walk out the door and make sure they are prepared for the day. This includes having their, Chromebook, ID and Lunch. If your student does forget their lunch or something they need for school, we have a cart in our front lobby with grade levels. This will be rolled back into the common area for the students to pick up their items during passing. Please drop off LUNCHES or SCHOOL SUPPLIES ONLY.
If you are dropping off an instrument or athletic equipment we will place this by the back office door for them to come up and get during their passing or after school. Please make arrangements with your student regarding these items and where to retrieve them.
