Parent Safety Session - Thursday, October 3

Glen Ellyn School District 41 and the Glen Ellyn Police Department will host a Safety Information Night for parents on Thursday, October 3, 7 p.m., at Hadley Junior High School, Library Media Center. Information will be shared related to safety drills in the schools including the new requirement to conduct active shooter drills within 90 days of the start of school. District 41 will conduct these drills in all schools prior to winter break. This will be the second school year District 41 has conducted active shooter drills. In District 41, the staff and students learn the Run. Hide. Fight. technique and the drills are conversation based only. The children do not practice running, for example.

Brave For Benjamin Lemonade Stand

The 4th Annual Brave for Benjamin Lemonade Stand welcomed families, staff and community leaders to Benjamin Franklin School in an effort to raise awareness and money to fight pediatric cancer. Franklin 5th grader Benjamin Burke was diagnosed with leukemia in 2015. Since then, his family has hosted the lemonade stand and blood drive which benefits the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation. In addition, emergency and closure announcements can also be sent directly via text messaging to parents who sign up. If you are a parent and would like to receive emergency messages on your cell phone via text (in addition to email and voicemail), please follow the below steps:


  1. Log on to Family Access - Click here

  2. Click the Skylert button on the left.

  3. The Skyward contacts screen will appear for the different types of notifications. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and enter your cell phone number(s) in the “Text Message” section.

  4. Click Save.

Tavern Day: A Living History Celebration of Stacy's Tavern Museum

Sunday, September 29,1- 4:30 p.m.

Come see what life was like for the early settlers of Glen Ellyn, on the same spot where early residents lived! Try your hand at 1840's life. There will be live farm animals, craft-making for kids, make your own candles, corn shelling, apple peeling, help with vegetable harvest, pioneer games and toys, how to rope a bed, do laundry 1840’s style, experience 1840's school in an outdoor classroom, make rope, tour the Tavern, and much, much more! Adults $8, GEHS Members $6; Children (3-17) $4, GEHS Members Children $3; children under 3 are free. Tickets available at the door.
