FROM DR. B.

Happy Wednesday, Trailblazers!

It’s on our website. You see it on our parking lot banners. You’ve heard me say it. It’s our vision: treasured, trained, transformed.

This week, I’d like to highlight V = vision in our ABCs of SCCS series.

Every child treasured.

Every child trained.

Every child transformed.

That’s what we are seeking to do at Sioux Center Christian School.

Our vision is that every child is TREASURED as God’s unique design with a one-of-a-kind role in His Story. We want students to understand God’s Story and then have an understanding – and a lifelong commitment – to living His Story. Our desire is that students would understand who they are and whose they are. We want them to know they have been made in God’s image and then to understand what it means to live a life of discipleship. We do our very best to build programs and supports that wrap around students in order to best meet their needs and to challenge them to keep growing. We treasure through our inclusive education services, through keeping class sizes reasonable, through what we say to students, and through how we interact with each other. Students have value because they have been made in God’s image. They are unique, and they are treasured.

Our vision is that every child is TRAINED in the deep soil of God’s Word and in the wonder of His creation. We want students to understand what it means to have a biblical worldview and then what it means to live from that worldview. We want them to have practicing doing just that – living out what they are learning in the classroom. It’s so important for students to know and understand God’s Word and what He has created. We train through our research-based curriculum, through the biblical perspective that is infused in every part of the school, through opportunities for students to practice what they are learning through formational learning experiences, through how we work through conflict, and through intentionally teaching life skills. We want students to have a solid foundation on which to build their life in service to God.

Our vision is that every child TRANSFORMED by the truth and grace revealed in learning and living God’s Story. We know that true transformation happens through the work and power of the Holy Spirit. Our goal is to provide opportunities and an environment that nurtures and supports this kind of transformation. We want students to feel comfortable and known in their learning environment. We want them to know they matter to us because they matter to God. Our hope is that the entire SCCS student experience points toward transformational living.

Treasured, trained, transformed. These are big things and impossible to do on our own and through our own power! Thank you for your partnership in these efforts. We deeply desire to continue a positive relationship with you, and we ask for your prayers that SCCS would have wisdom, grace, and love as we work toward fulfilling our vision.

Have a great rest of your week!

FOR YOUR INFORMATION

  • Please check the online calendar for upcoming events (http://www.siouxcenterchristian.com/calendar.cfm)
  • Unity Track meet is postponed until next Wednesday, April 27.
  • Sioux Center Community Schools do not have school on Friday, April 29 but SCCS does. Only the two Sioux Center Christian School buses (2014 and 2020) will be running the morning and afternoon routes on those days. All other students will need to have their own transportation.
  • Because of a conflict with Western's High School Graduation, the 5-8 Spring Choral Concert will be rescheduled to Monday, May 16 at Centerpoint Church (First Reformed). Please make this change on your calendars!

K-8 CONTINUOUS ENROLLMENT

For all current TK-8 students, we will once again be doing continuous enrollment. SCCS assumes continued enrollment for students unless we hear otherwise from parents. There is no process families need to complete each year and no online forms. We do our best to keep things simple for families. If you have an enrollment change, please contact the office at sccsoffice@siouxcenterchristian.com. If you have any updates to your contact information (address, phone, email, church membership, etc.), please make the changes in the parent portal or let the office know (sccsoffice@siouxcenterchristian.com).
