Weekly Highlights
- Benchmark assessments will be administered for Grades 3-5 Tuesday - Friday this week. Schedule and memo will be in your boxes. Teachers please encourage students to do their best in their assessments. :)
- DUE to the Benchmark Assessments for grades 3-5 we ask all teachers to please be patient and flexible with regards to scheduling. Thank you in advance.
- Thank you special education teachers for your collaboration with adjustments to schedule in an effort to serve our children
- Welcome Back Mr. Jones (5-401E)
- All teachers please REVIEW BLAST and WWT.
- All students must be ESCORTED at all times-- To the bathroom, lunch, prep classes, etc.
- It's the Holiday Season! PS 107 is having a Holiday Door Decorating Contest...Will your door win the prize? Looking for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place doors! The will be judged on creativity, and students inclusion. Doors will be viewed on Tuesday 12/22 by all staff for judging!
Announcements:
- Goals and Communication Notices must go home by Wed. 12/9. Give a copy to Ms. Diaz by close of business 12/9.
- Bulletin Boards Inside and Out --- Due 12/10
- Teachers please review Chancellors Regulation 420 and 421.
- Teachers please check the Public Library Schedule for your slotted time. It is vital for our students to be reading daily.
- Homework should include daily reading HW: Kinder-10 min/ 1st Gr-15 min/ 2nd & 3rd Grade- 20 min/ 4th and 5th Grade- 30 min (this time is to start as we build stamina and increase time during the second semester of the school year). Students should log their reading weekly and teachers should collect reading logs and include in their student binders.
- All teachers Grades K-5, enrichment teachers, SETTS, Speech and Language, ESL, Instructional Coaches---MUST be downstairs in the auditorium for Morning Arrival at 8am and Dismissal at 2:10pm
- ALL Classroom Teachers MUST have their OWN DAILY lesson plans for ALL Content areas: Math, ELA, Guided Reading, 2nd Math Block, Science, Social Studies.
- ALL enrichment teachers MUST have lesson plans for each class they service. All other support staff MUST have lesson plans for students they service. This is part of Danielson Standard 1e- Designing Coherent Instruction
This years instructional focus:
1. Guided Instruction in ELA and Math 2. Analyze Data to Drive Instruction
3. Incorporate technology in instruction

- Day 1 ELA Benchmark Testing Grades 3-5 8:30am - 9:50am
- Parent Engagement & Inquiry Time 2:20 - 3:35 pm: All teachers to bring their MOSL DATA ELA & Math (K-2)/ MasteryConnect Data ELA &Math (3-5) and report to the following rooms :Grade K & 3= Rm 428 / Grade 1 & 4= Rm 427 / Grade 2 & 5= Rm 425

Wednesday 12/9--- Day: ELA, Math, Guided Reading, Writing, Science
- Day 2 ELA Benchmark Testing Grades 3-5 8:30am - 9:50am
- Guided Reading: Groups should be scheduled, independent tasks for students in place, organized guided reading material should be visible. For guided reading material visit room 211. NO WHOLE CLASS TEACHING SHOULD OCCUR.
Thursday 12/10---- Day: ELA, Math, Guided Reading, 2nd Math Block, Social Studies
- Day 1 Math Benchmark Testing Grades 3-5 8:30am - 9:50am
- 2nd Math Block: Grades K-2: Math centers and reteach of identified standards should occur in small group. NO WHOLE CLASS INSTRUCTION, Grades 3-5: Identified standards focused lessons should occur to close the gap on identified standards based on MOSL.
- Guided Reading: Groups should be scheduled, independent tasks for students in place, organized guided reading material should be visible. For guided reading material visit room 211.
Friday 12/11--Day: ELA, Math, Guided Reading, 2nd Math Block, Social Studies
- Day 2 Math Benchmark Testing Grades 3-5 8:30am - 9:50am
- SMALL groups of 5-7 students per adult in the room. Review of student assignments. goals, and next steps should occur. NO WHOLE CLASS BINDER WORK SHOULD OCCUR. Individual one to one/small group discussion of work is powerful and will help improve students ownership of learning.
- 2nd Math Block: Grades K-2: Math centers and reteach of identified standards should occur in small group. NO WHOLE CLASS INSTRUCTION, Grades 3-5: CUBES Word Problem Solving
Ongoing Reminders:
- All STAFF must be at their Morning post at 8:00 am and Dismissal post at 2:10 pm.
- Period 7 ends at 2:10 pm ---- Dismissal post is from 2:10pm - 2:20pm
- Book Baggies: All students should have book baggies with just right books: 5 books max levels A-K / 3 books max levels L-Z--- Check students books for accuracy. Students should be shopping for books weekly and MUST keep a weekly reading log.
- As you greet our rockets this week please remember to greet our learners with kindness, organized, colorful, learning environments and with honest preparation for becoming literate, mathematicians, scientists, historians, critical thinkers willing and able to solve world problems, in other words PLAN, meaningful, productive interactive, and engaging lessons
