Bulldog Blog
Week of June 3rd!
Although we are all ready to start our Summer, I encourage each of you to not check out just yet. In the upcoming week, I hope you take the time to reflect. Whether you be a teacher, student, parent, or staff member, I encourage you to just stop and reflect on the moments. Celebrate the successes, appreciate the struggles and learn from them, set new goals for next year, and find that moment that stood out above all the rest,-then cherish it!
I usually find that writing down my thoughts and questions help me the best. Here are some questions you can each ask yourself- write them down and save them for the beginning of next school year. These reflections will help you, as well as support your memories of the past!
STUDENTS
- What 3 adjectives best describe the school year for me?
- My best accomplishment was …
- What was the most challenging part of this year for me? Who or what helped me face those challenges?
- What’s one thing that I saw in my classmates’ work that I would like to try next year?
- What is one thing I know I can do better next year? What did I do this year that I want to continue next year?
PARENTS
- What 3 adjectives best describe the school year for our family?
- What difficulties did my kids have this year? How did I support them?
- What did I do differently this year? How did that work out?
- What would I say to my beginning-of-the-year self if I could go back in time?
- What changes can I make that will make our family more organized/ productive/ happy?
TEACHERS
- What 3 adjectives best describe the school year for me?
- How did I support students this year? How can I support more students next year?
- What am I interested in learning about for next year?
- What can I change to make my classroom run more smoothly?
- What’s is one thing I saw a colleague do or use in their classroom that I would like to try next year?
While you count down the days, appreciate all that you’ve accomplished this year. Enjoy the well-earned break and know that when you come back for a new school year in the fall, you’ll bring new knowledge and insights you’ve gained!
Lastly, I wanted to add in just how important a moment might mean to someone. As I researched information for this week's blog, I also ran across George Couros- The Principal of Change- Blog and he recently did a piece about the power of a moment. I quote directly from his blog because it is too perfect to just paraphrase:
"Rough times will always happen, but they will not stay. Good times will happen, but they will not remain.
That is part of what it is to be human.
The trick is not to get caught up thinking that one moment, good or bad, is something that will stay forever.
But as school years are ending, it is also essential to consider that one moment can be one that is looked upon for a lifetime with our students and colleagues. Times that you might forget but they may remember. Those moments will pass but can stay with someone forever."
I believe this is impactful. One moment for you might mean something completely different for another. You each leave footprints wherever you go, be that one that leaves a permanent mark. Be the student who the teachers talk about in the years to come, be the teacher that is in the graduation speech their senior year, be the parent that supported their child whole-heartedly and stayed involved!
Find your moment-I promise it will stay with you forever!

A little about Ms. Moseley:
Her son- Jaxon-6 is currently an Alkek Bulldog in the 1st Grade!
She is a Cancer born on June 28th!! - Happy Early Birthday!!
Here are some fun facts about her sign: Being a Cancer born on June 28th, your creativity, sensitivity and compassion are your greatest strengths. While others are oblivious to the emotional health of others, you are overtly aware. As a great nurturer, you take the steps to try and help ease the problems of others. -- This is 100% true for Dixie!
Her favorite hobby outside of school and teaching are: Sports, specifically coaching Jaxon's teams.
Dixie says she enjoys all professional books, but her all time favorite book is "To Kill a Mockingbird."
Dixie and Jax are furry animal lovers! They have two dogs named Sky and Jessie!

Her favorite holiday is Christmas!
Ms. Moseley's favorite quote or words she tends to live by are:
"People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care!"
When asked if she had a hero, Dixie says, "Not really heroes, but I look up to my folks for the amazing parents they are!"
Dixie says she is most proud of her son!
When asked a little about how she ended up where she is now, Moseley tells us, "I come from a long line of teachers. Going into education was the only thing I ever saw myself doing. After 17 years in the classroom, I knew I wanted to be in a position where I could help both students and teachers. I cannot think of a better place than Alkek to work."
Thanks for all you do, Dixie, we appreciate you so much and cannot wait to see where else you will lead us!
Enjoy your spotlight!
