SMILE Everyone! We're All Dressed Up For The Holiday Break!
Traveling Art Exhibit Comes to Marie Murphy!
Each year, the Illinois Art Education Association and its members are invited to submit images of stellar artwork created in their classrooms. All art submissions are two dimensional artworks produced through a variety of techniques including: painting, drawing, collage, mixed media, weaving, metal work, photography, and technology.
The year, 720 pieces of 2D art from students in Kindergarten through high school were submitted by 66 art teachers from across Illinois, including Marie Murphy art teacher, Ms. Kelly Sabatini. From the artwork submissions, 40 pieces were chosen to be part of the Student Traveling Show, including Marie Murphy's own Isabella Parekh.
The Student Show travels to the Illinois School Board Association State Conference, the Palatine Public Library, Lisle Library, Amita Adventist Hinsdale Medical Center, and school galleries at all grade levels across Illinois from November 2017 - August 2018. Marie Murphy has had the honor of displaying these pieces in December.

Marie Murphy 8th Graders Supply Puerto Rico Schools
Each year, the Marie Murphy graduating class engages in a community service project to benefit others. This year, the 8th grade class followed the lead of Student Council by choosing to aid and support Puerto Rico. Specifically, the 8th graders collected school supplies to help struggling Puerto Rican schools reequip for their school year.
Spearheaded by 8th grade parents Mrs. Major and Mrs. Viteri, supplies were donated by MM families and generous business throughout the area. Everything from folders, to paper, to glue sticks, to backpacks were donated to help outfit Puerto Rican students. The MM 8th graders worked to bag and box the donated supplies to prepare for shipment. The supplies will be sent to Puerto Rico this week.
