The Bunny and the Kitten
A fable about a bunny and a kitten By: Marissa Cart
One day in a land far far away, lived a selfish bunny and a small kitten. The bunny always won hopping contests, but the kitten wanted to verse him. So the next day, they both went to the forest and began the contest. Before they started, Emma the elephant, told them all the rules. "The goal is to hop and grab the highest leaf off the tree. It's that simple." said Emma.
The bunny said, "I will go first and win!" Emma the elephant counted him down, "5, 4, 3, 2, 1, go!" Then the bunny jumped as high as he could and went about three feet up the tree. He grabbed a green leaf. "Yeah! That's the highest I have ever went." the bunny exclaimed. He ran over to the trophy and yelled, "All mine!" The kitten said in a soft voice, "What about me?" The bunny looked surprised and said, "If I were you, I would leave now, so you don't get your dreams crushed, but fine go." The kitten slowly walked over to the tall oak tree. "5, 4, 3, 2, 1, go!" said Emma the elephant. Soon the kitten jumped as high as her little body could go, she would never give up. She grabbed a green leaf about three and a half feet up! The kitten has won! All the people who came to watch cheered over the excitement. The kitten beamed with happiness. On the other hand, the bunny ran home crying. The bunny got what he deserved, so did the kitten. The End!
