I thought "Family Leadership: Becoming a Successful and Effective Parent Leader" was an insightful article and I wanted to share it with you. If you can, read it before our Mid-Point Gathering on Saturday. We focus on leadership skills on Saturday as well as discovering more about YOU and your personality/communication and leadership style!
Mid-Point Gathering
Date: Saturday, March 23rd
Time: 9:00 a.m.--2:00 p.m.
Location: San Antonio College Nursing and Allied Health Center(NAHC) #218
*Lunch will be provided.*
During the mid-point gathering, you will learn about your leadership and communication style, develop a leadership plan, and set goals. The mid-point gathering will also focus on connecting with others.
The Mid-Point Gathering is always one of everyone's favorite courses! It is very interactive and you end leaving with a lot of information that helps you grow as a parent leader!

Time: 9:00 a.m.--3:00 p.m.
Location: ESC-20 in the Magnolia Room (2nd Floor)
*1 hour lunch break will be provided. You can bring your lunch,
purchase lunch at the ESC-20 cafe or go offsite.*
Reminder: Participation in the 7 Habits of Successful Families is non-negotiable, meaning you must attend this course in person in order to graduate. Why? We consider this course a strong foundational course to develop leadership skills and successful elements for your family that are critical.
If you are not able to attend the March 25th session, the training is also being offered on Wednesday, April 3rd at ESC-20, 9:00 a.m.--3:00 p.m. The April session is open to any family/parent in Region 20 so it will be a mixed group.

Just a reminder that you need to at least choose 2 elective courses to complete the Parent Leadership Academy in order to graduate.
All elective courses are offered at Region 20. If you are unable to attend in person, the elective courses are also available via webinar. The webinar is live (same time as face to face training).
Note: If the training is offered via webinar, it will have a webinar Session ID# and you must register with this ID# to receive the webinar link.

Texas Transition 101
Parents will receive an in-depth look at the Federal and Texas Transition process used in their child’s IEP to help them be successful after graduating from high school. This training will cover the importance of self-determination and involving your child in the transition process.

Early Childhood Parent Toolkit
Join us as we explore the NEW ESC-20 Early Childhood Parent Plus+ Toolkit! Parent Plus + is an engaging set of activities for parents to use in playful learning with their preschool aged children. This training will train PARENTS to become actively involved in learning how to enhance student engagement with playful learning activities in the home setting. The kit includes activities aligned with the Pre-Kindergarten Guideline standards in math, reading, writing, and language development.

Standards-Based IEPs
With increasing accountability for improving the academic achievement of students with disabilities, school-based professionals have become more invested in the development and use of standards-based Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs). In this training, parents will be presented with the process for developing IEPs that are aligned with state standards.

**This training is specifically geared toward families with children ages birth through age six.

- Please remember to register for your elective classes! If you need a refresher, please download the steps to register below.
- The course stays open the day of the training so if you forget to register, please show up and you can register on site at the front registration desk.
- If your name does not appear on the sign in sheet, it is likely you registered after our registration specialists printed the sign in sheets. If this is the case, please make sure you sign in at the bottom. If you are unsure if you registered or not, you can always stop by the front registration desk and have them check for you.
If you are participating in elective courses via webinar:
- Make sure you type your name in the chat box when the webinar manager does roll call. At some point they will ask you to type your name that you are participating. When they receive your name they will check your name off the sign in sheet to give you credit for your attendance.
Don't forget you can print off certificates 1-2 days after the training.
