Hawk Happenings

For the Week of August 19th - 23rd

Dear Parents,

We've had a great start to our new school year! I'm so impressed with the students as they have returned back to school this week. Your children are amazing!

As we begin a new year, I would like to reassure everyone that school safety is a top priority at Spring Lake. Our greatest goal is to ensure that students feel safe at school so that learning can flourish. We also want children to feel safe as they walk and bike to school each day.

Over the past several months we have been working with city and district officials as well as our school community council to improve walking and bike routes to school. We have many new homes and new children and will continue to work together to make improvements wherever we can. This week I will be holding mini-sessions with each grade level to talk about safety rules and procedures. We will also reinforce walking and bike safety at our opening SOAR assembly. You will see an increased teacher presence outside each day before and after school to help children safely cross our busy drop off and bus zones and to remind students to walk their bikes and watch for cars once they leave school grounds.

We ask our school community to join us in efforts to improve safety by following our drop off policies, driving slowly through neighborhoods and remaining patient during busy drop off and pick up times. Please visit our website (springlake.nebo.edu) to view our newly updated Parent Handbook which includes pick up and drop off information. Safe Walking Routes are also available under the "PARENT" tab of the home page. As always, please contact me via phone or email with any questions or concerns. My door is always open.

We are looking forward to a wonderful school year! Please read through the rest of this newsletter for important information about upcoming events! We are ready to SOAR in 2020!

Have a wonderful week!
