Message from Boise School District:
Dear Parents and Guardians:
This is to notify you that we contacted Boise Police this morning because of an unauthorized individual who had entered North Junior High School's cafeteria at approximately 7 a.m. today. The man was acting strangely and was arrested by police before school began.
A second individual (unrelated to the first individual, according to Police) tried to enter North at approximately 7:11 a.m. but was stopped and turned away by a North staff member. That suspect left the scene and was later found entering nearby Longfellow Elementary School at 7:58 a.m., before school started. As a precaution, children at Washington, Highlands, Lowell, Longfellow and Roosevelt were brought into the building early this morning. Boise High was also notified.
Police later located the second individual and interviewed him. Police said the individual was attempting to pass out flyers at schools but had not received the required District approval to do so. Police informed him of the necessary steps to distribute flyers at schools.
All district staff members are to be commended for responding appropriately to these situations. Our first priority each and every school day is the safety and security of our students and staff members. The Boise School District’s policies and procedures help us to accomplish this important priority.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Parents and Kids – Save the date! The PTA presents the 2017-2018 Family Art week and Art Auction. Family Art week will showcase much of the art our Washington Students and Art teachers have been working on all year long. Plan to visit the school the evening of Wednesday, April 4th for a fabulous display of art projects, family activities and the show base of classroom art auction pieces. Then save the evening of Saturday, April 7th for an adults only event of silent & live auction items. It is our school’s biggest fundraiser of the year and supports our Washington kids, teachers and staff all year long. Take a look at the attachments for the kids poster contest (a great activity for little hands over the winter break) and ways you and your families can help make this event successful. Thank you in advance for your support!
