The HGHS Choral Department is presenting "Showcase," featuring members of the 2015-2016 "Chorale," tonight at 6:30 PM in the Blackbox Theater. The cost is $10.00. Hope to see you there!

The Sunshine Club is meeting tomorrow at 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM to purchase T-shirts and to talk all things, sunshine! T-shirt money is $16. Hope to see you there!

Theatre Club

The fall theatre season starts Tuesday, October 22nd and Thursday, 23rd with Trojan Night Live, a night of comedy featuring skits and a play, and The Absolute Most Cliched Elevator Play in the History of the Entire Universe. Doors open at 5:30 PM, and tickets are $5.00 each. Come out and support our cast and crew!

SoC Departmental Scholarships

The University of South Alabama School of Computing offers exceptional scholarship opportunities for incoming students, including our Outstanding Student Scholarships. These scholarships are available for students who will be joining the school next fall and have a composite ACT score of 29 or higher, or who have an ACT score of 27 or higher and will graduate with a specialized diploma such as an Honors, IB, or EPIC. Enclosed is a flyer with information about this scholarship and how to apply.

NCWIT Award Applications

Did you know that the National Center for Woman & Information Technology (NCWIT) is currently accepting applications for the NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing? This program is a talent development pipeline initiative designed to increase female participation in technology careers and provides structured, long term engagement and support for young women in technology, from middle school through high school and from college into the workforce. Students are able to win awards, prizes and earn scholarships and connect with peers! Please encourage female students who have an interest in computing to apply atwww.aspirations.org.

Baseball Fundraiser

The Hazel Green Baseball Team is starting a fundraiser with Bucks Pizza. October 20th, 27th, and November 3rd are HGHS Baseball Nights. If you bring this flyer in, 20% of the proceeds will be given to Hazel Green High School!

Revision to Pre-Approved Absence Policy- Students requesting pre-approved, excused absences will need to turn the form in to Mrs. Sharp at least 20 days before the planned absence. Forms can be found on the school website.


Procedure for Riding the Bus with a Friend
- Any student who plans to ride home on a bus with a friend or to another address should follow the procedures below. No student will be allowed to ride to a different address without verification of parent/guardian approval by a school official.

1. A parent/guardian note should be turned in before first block to the receptionist desk at the back of school. The note should contain the address and information for the bus driver and should include the date and a correct phone number for verification purposes.

2. Pick up the verified note from the receptionist during lunch.

3. Give the note to the bus driver when entering the bus at the end of the school day.

Juniors Have Free Access to ACT Online Prep - All juniors will receive a personal user name and password to the ACT Online Prep website. This is a great resource to be used in preparing for the ACT Plus Writing assessment which will be given to all of our juniors during school. All students are strongly encouraged to utilize this service provided to us. For more information, visit http://www.actstudent.org/onlineprep/.


First Priority/FCS
meets every Tuesday morning at 8:00 in the Black Box Theatre. All students are welcome to attend.


Parenting Assistance Line:
PAL is a service where anyone can call a toll free number 1-866-962-3030 and receive useful, practical information and assistance with developmental and parenting questions and concerns. Available 8:00am – 8:00pm (central time) Monday – Friday.


Recycle:
Going green at “the Green”. The Hazel Green High School Special Education Department needs your old cell phones and ink cartridges. Items to be recycled can be given to a Special Education teacher or left for collection at the office. Your support of our recycling fundraiser is greatly appreciated.


Reward Cards:
Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your reward cards when you visit Publix and Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you have them swipe your card, HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a reward card, just stop by the main office to pick one up.

Driver’s permit:
Students /Parents, remember to pick up the Student Enrollment Form before you go to get your permit. The driver’s license department will not allow you to take the test unless you have this form and it cannot be faxed after you get there. These forms are good for 10 days only.


Loyalty Reward Tags:
(Hazel Green Pharmacy Loyalty Key Tag Program) Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your loyalty key tag when you visit Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you purchase a Prescription/Gift/OTC have them swipe your tag. HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a loyalty key tag, just stop by the main office to pick one up.
