making St. Nicholas mitres
and Advent wreaths!
A Message from the Principal
Dear HFCS Community,
The Season of Advent gives us so many opportunities for prayer and contemplation and today, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, is one of these moments. On Thursday we will celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe and we will remember once again how our divine mother cares for all of her children.
Aidan Souder and Oliva Vasquez set up our HFCS Nativity last week.
Last Friday afternoon the students each left a shoe in the library in the hope of a visit from St. Nicholas and they were not disappointed! St. Nick left each child a candy cane. There is story that years ago a candy maker wanted to make candy that would remind people of the real meaning of Christmas, so the candy maker made candy in the shape of a J for Jesus.
I am looking forward to seeing you at the Christmas Concert this Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm in Scantlin Hall.
Holy Family, Pray for us!
Blessings,
Ann Walters

Robotics Tournament
Robotics Tournament
The Hornet Robotics Sting Team competed in the City Shaper Challenge First Lego League Tournament with over 30 other teams on Saturday, December 7, taking First Place in Robotics Design and Eighth Place overall. Below is a message from their Nolan Catholic mentor, John Conlin...
Dear Parents and Coaches,
Hi, I am John Conlin, the mentor from Nolan Catholic High School. It was a pleasure to mentor your children as they practiced and competed against other teams. I am very proud of them for receiving First Place in Robot Design, they made up their color coding system by themselves, and they beat a team that scored 325 points, (that is a lot) in Robot Design. I can also agree with Dr. Matasso that your team did very well on the project award, they were
considered to win Second Place on the Project Award. Your team was in 8th place with a high score of 220 points.
I am very proud to have mentored your team and I will keep wearing the lanyard that was given to me. I saw how the team has grown over the season, and it was certainly for the better.
I will keep working hard to make sure the FLL program at HFCS improves, and to make the robotics program at Nolan better for when your children hopefully attend Nolan. I do not know what the future has in store for us yet, but I will let you know.
Some requests that I have are for the person who took the complete HFCS team picture with the Robot Design Trophy,to please send it to me. We would use this picture to promote Robotics at Holy Family and Nolan with our social media accounts and we would also write a newsletter about them as well. Below are links to our social media accounts, which
I hope to get Mr. Depta posting on soon. If Holy Family has any social media accounts, I ask that you share pictures on that as well so more people become interested in Nolan and the Robo Vikes.
I am very proud of Holy Family's Robotics Team and happy that they did well.
