Together We Learn 2020 Next Steps
If you haven't yet registered you have until MIDNIGHT on 7/22/2020!
Next Steps for those who have registered AND received an email from support@eventowl.net
The FASA/Event Owl and OLL team have been working throughout the day and evening to make all of the necessary adjustments and we are pleased to let you know that the platform is up and running with a few small tweaks. One of the major functions on the platform, the ability to create your schedule on the web platform is not working. Since this is the case, we are providing you with 2 options to create your event schedule. Choose the one that works best for you.
Before you select your option, it’s important to know that we are not limiting participation in the sessions, so you will be able to attend the sessions that you need without fear of the sessions being full.
Option #1: This will provide you an opportunity to plan out your schedule for the 3 days of Together We Learn outside of the event platform.
If you choose this option, log on to the Event Owl platform (https://fasa.eventowl.net/) on the day/time of the sessions you select, search the session title in the search box, open the selected session and join the virtual session via the Zoom link embedded in the session room. Session resources will be available in the session room. Please log in to Event Owl before Monday morning to ensure your username and password work. Waiting until the day/time of the event/session may result in a delay of your entry into the virtual session. You can access the site at: https://fasa.eventowl.net/. You received an email from support@eventowl.net with your username and password.Option #2
Access the session schedule and descriptions on the Event Owl platform. Click the “add to favorites” while on the Event Owl site (https://fasa.eventowl.net/) to select your sessions. When this is done, the selected sessions are added to the participants’ agenda in the FASA app. This app is directly connected to the Event Owl site. In order to see your agenda, you must download the FASA app on your device and you will be able to see your agenda there. The username and password for the FASA app is the same username/password you used to access the Event Owl platform. You received an email from support@eventowl.net with your username and password.
On the day of the event, log on to the Event Owl platform (https://fasa.eventowl.net/) on the day/time of the sessions you select, search the session title in the search box, open the selected session and join the virtual session via the Zoom link embedded in the session room. Session resources will be available in the session room. Please log in to Event Owl before Monday morning to ensure your username and password work. Thank you and we will see you all, virtually on Monday for a fantastic Together We Learn!
Growing your Canvas Skills
You may have noticed a new course, Growing your Canvas Skills, was recently added to your myLearning Dashboard. We are excited to share this exciting learning opportunity with you and know you will come away from this required course stronger in your ability to use our myLearning platform with your students. A couple of things to note:
- The theme, look, and layout of the course will look familiar to you if you participated in our initial Growing with Canvas course before Distance Learning. You will, also, find a few items that were carried over from this original course (necessary for the folks who are new to Pasco – WELCOME), but the majority of this course is new learning.
- While this course is required for all teachers, if you are actively enrolled and completing the Growing with Canvas 2.O course with Anita Alexander and/or have successfully achieved the myLearning Basics badge awarded via myPGS, you are not required to take this additional course.
If you have any questions about the Canvas professional learning, please don't hesitate to reach out to Anita Alexander, agalexan@pasco.k12.fl.us from our Learning Design Team who will be happy to assist.
ELA
We hope you are having a relaxing and safe summer vacation. As we continue to plan for the start of the 20-21 school-year, we understand the importance of ensuring you and your students have a smooth transition between both the Traditional and mySchool Online environments. With feedback from many stakeholder groups, it has been decided to utilize the FLVS ELA curriculum as our foundation for next year. Our students and families, as well as you, have familiarity with the myLearning platform and organization of FLVS modules since we engaged in this content during quarter 4. Since our focus continues to be on building knowledge around a text set, in order for our students to speak and write knowledgeably about a topic, we will be layering in ReadyGEN texts and DBQs when they enhance the content in a module.
Here are some resources to help you get started with planning for the first few weeks:
- Off to a Great Start (Launching Independent Reading)
- Module One Curriculum Map for Grade 3, Grade 4, Grade 5 We will be offering multiple sessions by grade level for ELA Curriculum Essentials during TWL.
- Daily Read Alouds- Consider which books you would want to read to your students at the beginning of the year to build your learning community and make SEL connections.
- 20-21 SchoolPace and Bookshelf- We will have full digital access to wide reading libraries Yellow-Purple, Marine Life, and ARC Press Titles, which include Spanish titles on Bookshelf. We will also have full digital access to both English and Spanish (ENIL) Foundational Skills Toolkits and hundreds of Y-2R Toolkit lesson videos. To learn more about these resources and how to use them in both Traditional and mySchool Online environments, join Laura Lindsay's session on July 29th during TWL.
Math
We are excited to share information regarding the Great Minds Eureka Math materials and resources that will support both in-person and remote learning for the 2020-2021 school year. To learn more about these resources, please click the link below.
Science
- Video Sneak Peek for Curriculum
- Animal Adaptations Studio Board (Make a Copy for your own DE account to Explore)

Social Studies
We hope that each of you are taking to the time to relax and rejuvenate this summer. Our team is continuing to plan for the start of the 20-21 school year, one that definitely will be in future history books. With the fluidity of the situation, we understand the importance of our base curriculum and materials selections for both traditional and mySchoolOnline courses allow for students and teachers to transition from brick and mortar classes to mySchoolOnline with minimal interruption if there is a need for individuals or groups to be away from school. With feedback from many stakeholder groups, it has been decided to utilize the FLVS Social Studies curriculum as our foundation for next year. Our students and families, as well as you, have familiarity with the myLearning platform and organization of FLVS modules since we engaged in this content during quarter 4. Since the focus of social studies instruction is to create students who are exposed to culturally relevant text, historical documents that share the stories of all races and cultures, and allow them to see their voice as future citizens; we will continue to embed resources such as the DBQ Project, Stanford History Group, and Civics in a Minute.
Please join us for the DBQ sessions at TWL and to learn more about the DBQ platform please click here.
