YCAL PRE-APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMS

The YCAL Pre-Apprenticeship Program is designed for high school students enrolled at YCAL’s Partner Schools, who are considering pursuit of an Apprenticeship in a chosen trade after graduation. YCAL offers various Pre-Apprenticeship options through several different training partners.

• WHAT IS A PRE-APPRENTICESHIP?

• A Pre-Apprenticeship is designed to be an introductory, experiential learning program to help an interested party determine if pursuing an Apprenticeship in a specific field is the right career fit for their needs. On a national level, Pre-Apprenticeships are found to increase the success rates of individuals entering Registered Apprenticeships, which is a benefit to the Apprentice and to the employer.

• WHY PRE-APPRENTICESHIP?

• A Pre-Apprenticeship gives students the ability to explore a career before entering the workforce after graduation, all while developing other transferable skills, should they decide that pursuing a Registered Apprenticeship is not in their post-graduation career plan. Please note that while Pre-Apprenticeship allows for exposure and relationship-building with the host company, completion does not guarantee the student employment at this company upon graduation.

• WHAT PRE-APPRENTICESHIPS ARE AVAILABLE?

• Electrical level 1 and level 2

• Building Trades

• Manufacturing

Volunteers are needed for April 4 and 5 to assist with the JA Real Life Program here at Red Lion Area Senior High School. Juniors will be participating in day long activities involving Financial Literacy and Financial Decision Making. You may volunteer both days or just one of the days. Volunteers will facilitate 1 activity during the day with small groups of students. JA will provide training the morning of the event and as soon as you sign up you will receive a link to both written instructions and a brief training video. The school will provide a light breakfast and lunch! As a reminder to parents dropping off their students at the High School, please do not park in the parking spots on the first tier of the Commons Parking lot.

Also, if you are picking up students at the end of the day, please keep the first tier parking accessible for staff leaving.
