Bike Safety
School is out and your child wants to be outside riding their bike. Before you let your little one head out make they will be safe. The brakes should work properly and the tires need to be inflated. Adjust the bike to fit. Wear a helmet that fits properly. Practice these rules with your child, look before turing, do not go in and out of cars, ride in the same direction as traffic, watch for vehicles coming in and out of driveways, and stop at all corners.
Water Safety
Summer fun in the sun. We love to go swimmimg when school is out. Here are afew water tips while having fun. Keep toys that are not in use away from the pool, they may attract children. Use safety covers when pools are not in use. Encourage your child to never swim alond, always bring a friend. Swim in an area that is supervised by lifeguards. Inexperienced swimmers need to weat an approved life jacket. Parents do not drink alcohol while watching your swimmer. When swimming in the ocean, watch out for rip currents. All people, no matter your skin tone should wear sunscreen SPF 15.
Healthy Summer Snacks
Red Ants on a Log-
cut celery in half
put peanut butter in celery
put cranberries or raisins on top of peanut butter
Apple Ladybug Treats-
slice red apples, but leave out the middle to look like wings
stick one pretzel into each slice
use small amounts of peanut better to make raisins stick on apple
Fantastic Fruit-
craft sticks, disposable cups, kiwi, watermelon, strawberries, pineapple, pinapple and orange juice, mix together and freeze
Event Information
Summer Reading Camp
It's free. Come. All ages. Summer reading camp. Every Monday evening at 6:00pm. We will have a puppet show for ages preschool to 11 years old. Followed by a brief introduction about our program and how to introduce books to your young child.
Ages 12-16 will discuss different genres and pick a novel to read collectively. At the end of the program we will have a play acting out out novel

YMCA Summer Swim and Workout
Smiwwing lessons at 5:00pm. $10
Yoga followed by exercising will begin at 7:00pm. $5
No age limit, but children under 16 needs to be with an asult.
