“Where Learners are Grown with Pride!”

Welcome Back Elba Elementary!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the new school year! Even though our hallways and classrooms are mostly quiet right now, it won’t be long before the sounds of students and teachers take over once again. While we are so excited for the first day of school on Tuesday, September 6th, I hope this letter finds you and your family enjoying the summer weather and the time with each other. Summer is such a great time to relax and rejuvenate, so thank you for taking time out of your busy summer schedule to attend Popsicles with the Principal. I had such a great time meeting all of your children and you! I am truly looking forward to getting to know all of our Little Lancers this school year!
Teachers have been in and out of the building planning and preparing for the students’ arrival. New students have been registered and school supplies have been ordered by the amazing staff here. Our school custodians have been working diligently to prepare teachers’ classrooms and our entire building. I can’t wait for you to see how beautiful our building looks when you attend Open House on Thursday, September 1st.
As the 2022-2023 school year approaches, I wanted to take a moment to welcome our incoming UPK and Kindergarten students to their new school and say welcome back to our 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students and parents. When you attend Open House you may also meet new faculty and staff or even notice some familiar faces in different positions. Please join me in welcoming them to Elba elementary!

Transportation
Bus transportation is provided to all students in grades K-12. Students will receive a postcard prior to the start of school with their indicated pick-up/drop-off times. Please be patient with your driver if he/she comes a little early or a little late the first few days. Sometimes it takes a few days to get the timing down. An adult MUST be present at drop-off for all students in grades K-2. If an adult is not present, the bus driver will not let your child off the bus. He/she will return to school and will wait to be picked up.
If your child rides the school bus and is dropped off at a location in the afternoon that is not their home, please contact Pam Pedro in the Elementary Office PRIOR to the first day of school at 585-757-9967 x1600 or by email: ppedro@elbacsd.org.
If your child will NOT be riding the school bus at all this year, please notify the school with that information. This will help us with planning and communication.
School Hours
The school day for students in K-6 begins at 7:40 am and dismisses at 2:30 pm.
Student Arrival Procedures
Student Dismissal Procedures
For those students being picked up, dismissal is as follows:
UPK: 10:10am & 2:10pm
Grades K & 1: 2:20pm
Grades 2-6: 2:30pm
Students in grades K-4 will be waiting at the elementary door at their indicated time. Please be sure to stay in the elementary circle and off the grass for our students' safety.
If you have children in different grade levels in K-4, you can do one of the following:
Drive through the elementary circle at the corresponding times for each of your children.
Park your car and walk up to the elementary doors. As each of your children come downstairs, we will send them out to you.
Wait until your oldest child's release time and pick up all of your children then.
Students in Grades 5-6 will continue to exit the north door (by the arches) on their own.
Attendance
If your child will be absent from school or tardy, please contact the Health Office at 585-757-9967 ext. 1240. You can leave a message any time of day or night. A written excuse must be sent when the child returns from an absence. If your child is tardy, please sign your elementary child in at the District Office. If your child will be dismissed early, please provide a note which states the child’s name, time, and the reason for early departure to the elementary office. Elementary students need to be picked up in the District Office. If your child is sent home from school from the Health Office, please park in the front bus loop. Your child will be brought out to you.
