A BIG Thank You to all our wonderful Mize families! Thank you for following the arrival and dismissal procedures. The carloops are running smoothly and safely. Keep up the good work!
Here are some gentle reminders to help our Mize staff. These mainly deal with our arrival and dismissal procedures, as we continue to strive to carry them out as expediently as possible.
-Please make sure that you pull up as far as you can in the front drive. This will allow cars to move through and more students to be dropped off in a timely manner.
-Please make sure that students exit from the right side of the vehicle. If a student needs to exit from the left side due to sibling car seats, etc., please make sure that you notify one of the staff members to help assist the student(s) safely to the walkway.
-Please make sure that your name card is easily displayed to expedite the dismissal process.
-If your child requires you to buckle them in their seat, please pull into the closest parking space to assist with the task and expedite our car loop. We want to ensure the safety of all of our students, as well as moving things along in a timely fashion.
-Please remain courteous while in line on Mize Road. We have cars coming from both directions and it has been customary that everyone takes turns when entering into the parking lot. Please refrain from cutting in front of others and allow access to the back car loop lane. We want to maintain safe and courteous dismissal procedures.
With these reminders, please keep in mind that it does create hazards for students and staff when cars move out of line. I realize that this tends to be a frustration, as time is a factor, but we want to make sure that our Mize family remains safe and accident free. Thank you so much for your cooperation, positivity, patience, and assistance with these procedures. It is greatly appreciated and hope you all have a fabulous week!
Due to Federal regulations, condiments are only available to student/staff who purchase items from the cafeteria. Please make sure to put and ask for condiments for sack lunch kiddos and outside food orders brought in for you kiddos. Thank you for your cooperation.

Why Eat Breakfast?

· Breakfast at school costs less than at the convenience store.
· Eating breakfast gives you brain energy to think clearly in your classes and gets you “charged up” for the day.
· Breakfast has vitamins and nutrients for strong healthy body.
· Starting the day with a healthy breakfast revs your metabolism and keeps it going strong for the rest of the day.
· Studies show that when you eat breakfast, you are less likely to overeat during the day.
Breakfast serving times in the cafeteria are from 8:20 am – 8:40 am every day. No need to sign up for breakfast, you are more than welcome to eat breakfast with your kiddo.
Absent? Have an appointment? Arriving late or leaving early? Going on vacation? Please contact the office either by phone call or email to notify them of your students absence. If your student is absent for the day, please make sure you contact your teacher by email or call the Mize office to report an absence by 9:00am.
If we do not hear from the parent/guardian, please expect a phone call from the Mize office so that we can accurately report the attendance. It is always appreciated when parents communicate any absence.

NEW-->Delayed Start on Wednesday, Sept. 18 and Wednesday, Nov. 6
The district is conducting a delayed start to help prepare our schools should a delayed start be necessary due to inclement weather. This will allow the district to consider the logistics involved in postponing the start of the school day and help prepare families should this action occur.
The district is testing this plan based on the number of school closures caused by inclement weather during the last school year. The school day will end at its regular time on September 18 and November 6. Families are encouraged to make plans now to accommodate these scheduled delayed starts.

Parents we need YOU!
Are you a parent who is looking to be involved but cannot volunteer during the daytime? We may have found a solution for you! We are in need of parents to be apart of our Mize Site Council that meets once a quarter. What is Site Council? A School Site Council is group of teachers, parents, administrators, and interested community members who work together to develop and monitor a school's improvement plan. Site Council is a great way to be in the know with what is going on with your home school and within the school district.
