FMS Counseling: Mrs. Crawford, Mrs. Horstmeier & Ms. Jo
We have wrapped up MAP testing here at FMS. We do have a few make up tests to be given due to students being absent and hope to get those taken care of next week.
We are busy in the school counseling office as we start to wrap up this school year and start planning for next year. We are working on next years schedule and look forward to sharing dates with you for Open House and Schedule Pick up for 7th and 8th graders very soon.
Please watch your email for a survey for students and parents about the services we offer through the school counseling office. We want to know how we can improve and assist each student in being more successful here at FMS.
We will be in the office here at FMS until June 4th and return on August 1st.
Here are a few ways you can reach out to us in the FMS Counseling Office:

Music 6:
Battle of the Bands went really well! We had a pizza party on Monday for the 5th hour class because they were the WINNERS of 4th Quarter Battle of the Bands! The things that set them apart from the other bands, in the view of the judges, were the clear rhythmic patterns, and their creativity. While each band brought something interesting to their compositions, this group really rocked it. To check out their performance, visit the link below!
We are finishing out the year with Artist Presentations! Each student had the opportunity to choose a musician to research. They will have multiple opportunities to share their research, AND learn from their classmates! We are finishing this school year with enthusiasm!

It seems to be that time of year where things break and some repairs need to be made. If you do not have a repair plan through Lincoln County Music of BISCO, Jerry's Instrument Repair in Columbia is a great place to take your instruments.
Practice for the weekend:
* #182 and #184 in the book as well as Circle of Life
* # 173-181
7th Grade Band:
I will be offering lessons this summer for students who want to further their abilities to make the transition from 7th grade to 8th grade more manageable. If you have any questions please let me know. Also, looking ahead to 8th grade. We are going to have a marching band this year again, and will possibly do more than one parade, I am not entirely sure yet.
Next year, students will be required to have a "marching band" uniform which will include a band t-shirt, jeans and tennis shoes. We will also be purchasing polo for concert season, in addition to wearing khakis and black dress shoes.
8th Grade Band:
I will miss you all next year and hope to see you in high school band.
7/8th Grade Wire Choir:
Guitar classes are working on perfecting chord progressions, playing in standard notation as well as TAB. Guitar students are also finding a song that they are going to teach the rest of the class the song of their choosing. At the end of the year we are also going to start to make a guitar.
Feel free to contact us with any questions at sblandford@fulton58.org or kjneudecker@fulton58.org.

News From the Art Room
This week will be a quick update as we are coming down to the wire on project completion. Students are right on schedule and we are putting the finishing touches on many projects, and moving into some art mini projects for extra practice and fun.
6th Grade is wrapping up their watercolor Fruit Panels and next week we will shift into our year-end collaborative project Andy for Candy where we learn about Andy Warhol and create some Pop Art!
7th Grade is continuing work on their comic Book Covers based on the superhero they designed.
8th grade is working on several mini projects and shifting into their final drawing which will be a full complete drawing on a subject of the student’s choosing. It will be a culmination of what we learned about drawing over the last year.
If you have any questions, please let me know cchapman@fulton58.org

The FMS Thrive Hive
The Fulton Middle School Thrive Hive opened for business on Monday, August 21st. The store is open 7:30 to 7:45 each morning. If students aren't able to shop then they can email Mrs. Horstmeier @ shortmeier@fulton58.org or Mrs. Yates @ hyates@fulton58.org for an appointment to shop.
The Thrive Hive is designed to allow students to use their Hornet Bucks--earned through the Positive Behavior Support Program--to purchase items from the store. The Thrive Hive was created to help the needs of the FMS Student Community.
Items currently needed for the store are:
Any age appropriate toys, DVD's for the holidays.
As we gear up for winter: Hats, gloves, scarves, and coats.
Snack items: Slim jims, and pop tarts.
Other needs are ear buds and water bottles.
We will be gearing up for the holiday season so baskets to make gift packages for students to purchase would be great.
All other items are appreciated as well.
If you would like to donate, please call Fulton Middle School at 573-590-8200.
