Nationalism is a form of government that focuses on the good of the nation. Sectionalism puts the needs of a state first, instead of the nation. An example of Sectionalism is the Missouri Compromise. An example of Nationalism is when America prohibited other countries from colonizing.

Henry Clay was born April 12, 1777, in Hanover County, Virginia. Before becoming a Kentucky senator, he was a frontier lawyer. He would later become a speaker of the House of Representatives. He also became secretary of state under John Quincy Adams in the 1820s, and he pushed for the Compromise of 1850. He was one of the main creators of the American System. He died June 29, 1852.
