Letter from the Principal

Dear Lions Park Families,

This is a busy and exciting time at Lions Park! We are looking forward to our PTO-organized Valentine's Day parties on Tuesday. Our teachers met this week to review winter benchmarking data. While it is challenging for them to be out of their classrooms for a half day, these are valuable opportunities to plan for future instruction and discuss interventions that can be put in place for students who are not making expected progress and those who may benefit from additional challenges. We will also have our club pictures on Thursday, February 16th. We will take pictures of students in any extracurricular activities or clubs and those in PTO clubs.

Students are welcome to bring Valentine's Day cards and/or other non-edible treats for their classmates on Tuesday. Please do not send any food items to school with your children. These will not be distributed. Another way for students to show appreciation at this time of year is to write letters to veterans who are part of the Honor Flight program. Our student council is encouraging students to write letters or make cards thanking veterans for their service.

Mrs. Merrill and Mrs. Koehlinger are opening their doors to any Lions Park families who would like to get better acquainted with the fine arts program! They will be offering educational tours of the art and music room along with ample time to discuss any questions you have about their programs! Open house hours will be on February 15th and 16th from 3:30pm-5:00pm.

Art- Room 128

Music- Room 146

In addition, our Instruction and Technology Coach will be available on Wednesday February 15th from 3:30pm-5:00pm in the LRC and will showcase examples of what students may experience in their classroom or specials time that integrate unique technology experiences, such as Tinkercad, DoInk, green screens, and more.

As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Warmly,

Katie Kelly
